Guilty Pleasures

I have a fairly sophisticated palate. I know good food and consider myself an accomplished cook. Most of the time I prepare quality meals for myself but occasionally something slips and I crave something . . . different. From time to time that craving is for instant mashed potatoes with corn mixed in. Gobs of butter (okay- Smart Balance). I can't explain it. Do you have a weird guilty pleasure? Tell all!

Uses for cooked crab

I love devilled eggs with crab. Mash the yolks with a little grated onion, bit of mayo and some Dijon. Dill. Fold in crab and pile the filling into the whites; top with chopped chives.

What cookbooks have you bought recently, or are you lusting after? April 2013 edition [old]

Food of Life (Ancient Persian and Modern Iranian Cooking and Ceremonies) - it's magnificent. Eggs by Michel Roux. Yum. Mediterranean the Beautiful Cookbook by Joyce Goldstein. If you're not familiar with this series (The Beautiful Cookbooks) check them out on Amazon. Normally I wouldn't give such books the time of day (because of the name). But I noticed Provence the Beautiful Cookbook was written by Richard Olney. THAT caught my attention. Ordered several of the series used on Amazon and was amazed. They are stunning. He recipes and photography are art. I now own most of the series and recommend them all highly.
