Yucatan Eats - requests and a belated report
For Tulum, Chef Claudia's Cetli is a must for dinner. Pollo Asado Dona Rosa and the attached carnitas place for lunch.
Isla Mujeres:
Poc Chuc, La Susanita and La Lomita
Playa del Carmen:
Tacos Gomez, El Fogon, El Faisan y Venado for inexpensive Mayan, La Pesca, La Cueva del Chango for breakfast, Zenzi Beach Club for coconut shrimp.
any good food all-inclusives in playa del carmen or around?
There are some great places to stay right in town where you would not have to walk far for food or drinks. Shangri la Caribe, Las Palapas, Playa Maya, Mimi del Mar and others. Head to the Mega store to stock up on beer, water and tequila. Best breakfast at La Cueva del Chango and so many great places to eat.
In Tulum, beachfront cabanas like La Zebra are heaven to me.
Maroma Resort and Spa is not AI but the food is supposed to be fab.
AI hotels with good food reps:
Le Blanc
Secrets Maroma Beach
Grand Velas
Zoetry Paraiso (now allows children)
I had never been to an AI before, we recently went to SMB. I was surprised to see chilaquiles at breakfast, a pork spit at the pool and tixnic xic fish at lunch. In general, the food was better than I expected. :) CW
Yucatan Eats - requests and a belated report
Cetli in Tulum with Chef Claudia is a must do dining experience. Charlie's is a good mix of locals and tourist and the mole rocked. Authentic meals picked from pots in the kitchen as there are no menus at El tacoqueto. There are much better options for a pork taco than La Parilla. I love the bar at Luna Blue and the owners can help you pick a place by what you are in the mood for. Happy Eating!
maya riviera (akumal, tulum) - help me find good local food
My favorite local place in Tulum pueblo is El Tacoqueto. No menus, no English we went into the kitchen and picked our meals out of pots. Awesome food and 2 cokes for 80 pesos total.
There are also street vendors starting at 6am and several taco stands. I have read about roasted pig early mornings on the weekends, but I have never made it early enough.
Have a great time and Happy Eating!
