Orance County Recommendations for Special Event

Bah, I just now realized the title says Orance County instead of Orange County.

Anyway, thanks for the recommendations so far. Any more suggestions if we took price out of the equation?

Orance County Recommendations for Special Event

I am looking for restaurant recommendations for a special event in Orange County (think along the lines of an engagement party). Here is what we are going for:

-Not a sit-down meal. We are looking for something with an "open house" feel, where guests can come and go as they please over the course of a 2-4 hour window.

-We would like food (appetizers, or perhaps more substantial buffet food) and drinks to be served during the entire course of the event.

-We would like either a private room, or a sectioned-off area of non-private room.

-We will need some seating, but regular or bar tables will do. Most people will probably remain on their feet.

-Should be big enough for 90-120 people.

-We want to avoid chain restaurants.

-Price is somewhat flexible, but we can't go super high end (we won't be spending CUT prices, for example).

-We would like to keep it to Northern OC (Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Newport, Huntington, Yorba Linda, Brea, etc.), but we would be willing to go further for an outstanding venue.

-Type of cuisine is open.

Any ideas? If you need more info to make recommendations, let me know!

Pollo Rico in Mid City

Has anyone eaten at Pollo Rico in Mid City? It appears to be just a guy with a BBQ on a residential street. I think the guy basically runs it out of his driveway at 1272 West Blvd (just north of Pico). I plan to try it soon, but was wondering if anyone knows of it already.

Shao bing in SGV?

Does anyone know where to get shao bing in SGV or LA? I am not looking for Taiwanese shao bing, but rather this kind: http://frugalcuisine.blogspot.com/200...

This shao bing has no filling. It's basically nothing but dough cooked in a barrel with hot coals burning. When it's done, the vendor will either smear chili paste or sugar on it.

Any leads?

Great, thank you! Is xian bing just another name for mending roubing?

Does anyone know where to get good mending roubing in LA/SGV? I'm not having much luck searching on the internets.

What will blow my mind in the LA area?

I'd have to disagree with you folks. Pizzeria Bianco's pizza is delicious for about 4 minutes after it comes out of the oven, but it quickly becomes hard and less enjoyable. I'd put it behind Pizzeria Mozza AND...Great Lake (in Chicago). Great Lake is incredible, but the people who run that place are illogical, self-righteous, egomaniacs who drive customers away. I'd say between Mozza and Great Lake it is a toss up (heh heh), but Mozza takes it because it's a much more pleasant experience.
