Best sushi in Orlando?

Ok. I have been to 3 out of the four you listed above.

Amura to me, was over priced and pretencious. Wazzabi was solid, but none of their rolls really blew me away. Shari is the best choice. Their fish is super fresh and they have creative rolls. They have some dishes for non sushi eaters and this beef appetizer that is out of this world.

I forgot the name of the roll I liked, but saw some great pictures of it here http://www.thesushicritic.com/shari-o... def worth checking out

Whats your favorite nut and what do you meak with em?

Lately I have been using walnuts a lot and they become a favorite of mine. They go on salads, in oatmeal and yogurt. Recently I made a great pasta dish with totasted walnuts, some spinach & goat cheese. Yum!

What is your favorite nut & what do you like to make with them?

Suggestions on Local Seafood Restaurant near Old Town

I was in San Diego few weeks ago with the fam & Harney Sushi was recommended to me. So glad the sis-in-law lives there (much needed break from NY weather) & looking forward to heading back for more sushi goodness. Their sushi was stellar. Was trying to look up the great roll I had there, it was the Rolls Royce & saw this reivew & pic of it that may be helpful http://www.thesushicritic.com/harney-...

from what it says, they use lots of local fish, enjoy!

heres their site too

Best sandwich-chip combination

i thought i was the only one who did this! this was a staple during my childhood & we'd usually put plain chips or sour cream & onion ones on our turkey sandwiches. now i like cheddar or french sunchips on turkey sandwiches - i find those to be extra crunchy & not oily

Low Cal Protein Bars

I like the South Beach Diet Protein bars. They range around 140 calories, 5 grams of fat & 7 grams of sugar. They offer both high fiber versions & high proetin ones. I get the high protein which have 8 grams of protein (may be less than youre looking for) & 3 grams fiber.

While a little higher in calories 170-190, I also find the Luna Bars for women very filling & tasty.

Are condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo, aioli, etc.) necessary for burgers?

90% of the time I will put ketchup on. Rarely will I put a little mayo on it & I have heard of mustard on burgers and that goes on sometimes. I've watched my sister actually put all three on her & thats a little overkill for me.

Only time I reallly never use condiments (again mainly ketchup) is if the burger has avocado on it, or if it is a stuffed burger - like with blue cheese

Can any bread be used to make breadcrumbs? Do some work better than others? Any secrets or tricks I should know before I just throw bread in a processor?

Jellybean Flavors

Someone at my office brought in a giant Jelly Belly dispenser for everyone. He had mixed flavors in their and when i grabbed a few I got a delicious toasted marshmallow, a Margarita I didn't like, chocolate pudding which was pretty good, lemon which was way to strong and tasty mango. We're all going to take turns filling it up & I was wondering what Jelly Belly flavors everyone loves.....

Brand Failures

i remember the colored ketchup. they were soooooo gross. parents bought it & wouldnt let me use the regular ketchup until i tried the nasty green stuff. i swear it tasted differently & has scared me for life :)

Do you pack your own food when you go...

Peanut butter always fills me up and you can also bring a banana and put it on the sandwich later. Depending on how long a turkey sandwich may hold up too, just dont put any condiments on it. Either bring with you take from the dinning options available. Protein bars are good. You can always bring oatmeal backs & ask for hot water. I usually always have an apple or an orange on me. Carrots and dip or hummus is a good pick too.

Variations on peanut butter sandwiches?

i will kindly disagree about not using crunchy peanut butter. i love the combination of crunchy nuts smoothy peanut butter. i make peanut butter and banana sandwiches all the time....sometimes i'll add a lil granola or honey even. when it comes to jelly, i only use grape.

i like to warm my sandwiches slightly in the toaster, but not toast so they melt a lil without becoming crunchy. wrapping them in foil helps with this too & makes for easy cleanup if they happen to leak

orecchiette with peas, onions, little butter, olive oil, salt, pepper & basil makes a simple quick dish. you can add a little meat if you desire, ham works well and does crumbled sausage.

Food that Most People Love and You Don't...

beets, mushrooms, brussle sprouts, veal, tongue

i also have some weird quirks i have accepted. i love cheese but HATE cheesecake, also i like all tomato products (salsa, tom sauce) but won't eat slices of tomatoes on a sandwich or in a salad. i chalk it up to a texture issue :)

How to eat sushi?

omakase refers to chef's choice.

i enjoy sushi very much, but dont really hold myself to a right or wrong way to eat it.

i have heard that you should put little pieces of wasabi on the fish directly and not to mix a chunk into your soy sauce bowl. i have also heard about dipping the fish side int othe soy sauce and not the rice.
