restaurant/waitress adds to credit card bill. what to do?

Really . So it's Ok for a restaurant to put what ever they like on your credit card charged to you once you hand it to them . How about a new BMW charged to you . Is that Ok ? You have got to be kidding . I'm just freaking out reading all of this . It's time to throw a major fit and be compensated for all of the BS you have gone through .

Yes . I don't know about the big bucks . But to achieve anything in life you have to get up off your ass and work for it . Set your goals and be passionate about it . Don't be a crybaby . Work through the pitfalls and good will eventually come .

I have never encountered a forced dessert . It was always ," We have such and such for dessert would anybody like some " . When I'm invited to dinner I know the people as they are my friends . Don't you know them ?

Would you make the risotto ahead of time?

Agree , I am slow . I like to cook mine for around 40 min . With prep time it's more like a hour for me .

Risotto takes a hour more or less . I would not make it before hand . You want to serve it right when it comes off the stove . I would not add cream . I would start making it just before the guests arrive . Chicken is in the oven roasting . You have close to a hour and a half cooking time plus another 15 min to rest after removing from oven for that . You have plenty of time . You don't have to stand over the pot of risotto and constantly stir it . Serve up some wine to your guests when they arrive . Have them come into the kitchen and peer into the pot . Let them stir the pot for a moment . Add some stock and chat . Put on the asparagus . What's the hurry ? Enjoy

Wise Sons or Millers East Coast Delicatessen for pastrami sandwich ? [San Francisco]

As being a first timer arriving around 1:30 there was around ten people in line with most of the tables full . I did not see any signs of the previous fire .
I ordered the pastrami on rye with Swiss . The rye bread was excellent with a soft interior and almost a crunchy crust . The pastrami was sliced thick and had a nice smoky flavor and was topped with a slice of Swiss . The sandwich was flavor full , unpretentious , and just the right size . I would visit again .

I would cook for myself what you enjoy . The others are easy . Hot dogs . Monday , Wednesday , Friday . Chicken breasts , Tuesday , Saturday . Cheerios on Sunday . I'm sure they will be eying your food after weeks of the menu above .

I'm the same . I dislike to follow recipes . Only use them as a guideline . I can't imagine when it calls for a half cup of chopped celery that you would put it in a measuring cup . I look at it and say to myself ; That looks like enough .

Sandylc , I saw a episode of Jacques Pepin frying breakfast potatoes . Simply he cubed raw potatoes very small to a 1/4" dice . Into the pan on medium low heat . Then he turned them occasionally until done . I really like this approach as they always come out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside .
