Sam Won Gahk - good korean-chinese in flushing

I am quite surprised to hear this, as I have recently been to the Bayside location and thought it to be simply dreadful. I have lived in the area for a long time, and have always wanted to try the place as it is often busy. After finally convincing my Gf ( who is Korean), we went there with a couple of friends one afternoon and ordered the first three dishes you mentioned plus a dish with braised sea cucumber(not sure of the name).
Unanimously, the entire table though that the food was very bland, poorly prepared, and wholly lacking of finesse.
Perhaps there is a tremendous difference between the two locations. So I guess I would advise anyone to stay away from the Bayside location.

Raw bar in Nassau County?

I live in Little Neck and I am hoping to hear some recommendations for a raw bar in Nassau County.
I tend to favor casual, non touristy places.

Thanks in Advance!

Favorite Drinks at Dutch Kills?

I assume a number of you have been to Dutch Kills in LIC since it opened a few weeks back. I have been thoroughly impressed with many of the cocktails. I greatly enjoy the Queens Park Swizzle, Steinway Punch, Penicillin, Domenicana, Aviation, Old maid, Bourbon flip,Golden delicious..

Any other thoughts or recommendations?

I know some of these drinks garnered fame as part of the menu in Mr. Petraske's other establishments. Am I missing out on some prevalent cocktails from the other places?

Ramen fix in Queens?

is there anywhere in Queens where I can satisfy my ippudo/ramen sategaya cravings?
I go to law school in tribeca and I sometimes take the time to get to one of those spots, but I wish I did not have to deal with the lines/hassle and just hit up a spot in Queens...

suggestions?

Fairway coming to Queens?

It is simply crazy to buy produce at the douglaston waldbaums, the prices are nothing short of insane. Thankfully, new york mart opened in the deepdale plaza and their produce is literally like 25% of the waldbaum's price...
I am really looking forward to the change, but if it takes a year to renovate, that will be a nightmare for me, I live on 65th ave right near waldbaums.

Fairway coming to Queens?

oh, my, this is big news indeed!
I live right near waldbaums and have been going there since I was a kid.
I am a bit terrified to hear that the renovations will take a year as other supermarkets in the area aren't very conveniently located.
Do you know when this will happen?
I have never heard of fairway, is it like trader joes?

Citi Field Eats

I must say that I disagree with you about Box Frites, I thought that the fries themselves were very very good. The smoky bacon dipping sauce was okay, but it was not the star of the show.

I also enjoyed the chowder, but it was nothing special. The Po' boy at " catch of the day" was quite tasty but did not have a lot of shrimp and may be too spicy for most palettes.

The three taco combo from the taqueria is a home run, all around great. Three different tacos with three different salsas. Unfortunately, I was upset to hear that the corn dish at the taqueria was not available, I wonder if is it now being served?

Pine Court Chinese Bistro - Yummy authentic Chinese in Little Neck

The dim sum is very good, I have had it three times.
It is actually available everyday until 3.
I live in the area and I noticed that the place was packed with Chinese customers for dim sum from the get-go, so I figured I would give it a shot. I highly recommend it, the baked roast pork triangles are the best I have ever had, DO NOT MISS THEM!

Need a place for a crowd! Please Help!

I am going crazy trying to find a place that will accommodate a party of about 15 for my birthday a few weeks from now.

I am looking for a tasting/price fix menu in Manhattan for around $60-$70 per person, I want it to be a nice, long meal.

I posted under a different heading and got linked to a thread discussing good deals on tasting menus but I have not been able to come up with any place other than LAN to accommodate us. The problem is that although people say that LAN has great food, the portions are tiny, and I am afraid that people will be hungry afterward...

Can someone please suggest something else...I love l'ecole but I did that last year...

Thanks for your help

Tasting Menu Bargains?

Hi all, my birthday is right around the corner and it is time I start seriously considering what restaurant I will make my friends spend their money on...

I am looking for a place with a great deal on a tasting menu ($65 per person max), I went to l'ecole last year and loved it, I was hoping for a few analogous suggestions. I am very open minded to different types of cuisines so please feel free to be as eclectic as possible.......

Thank you in advance...

Great Lunch Place on a Budget in tribeca?

A place almost no one knows in Queens and one that I strongly recommend is Il Toscano, it is a delicious albeit a bit pricey Italian place, it is really top notch!

Great Lunch Place on a Budget in tribeca?

Hello All, this is my inaugural posting, and I felt inspired to post since being wowed by the quality and know-how of the responses on the Manhattan boards. Here is the deal, I am a New York Law School student( slanderous humor is welcome btw...) and I have just started my first year. Now, I know of the many venerable places in Tribeca, but I am looking for a different kind of place. My school is on worth street between church and west Broadway, I am looking for some tasty and affordable lunch spots in the immediate area. I have already tried the Pakistani tea house, and a very packed Cuban place right off church ( cannot recall the name), please enlighten me with all of your suggestions since I have three years to explore all these places, please fell free to be voluminous. In a slightly related story, I am a Queens native and love the amount of discussion regarding Queens places on these boards because I believe Queens is really a diamond in the culinary rough...thanks ahead of time
