What dish from which restaurant do you crave most often? What's the runner-up?

Of course it was bland without garlic butter. Then it was just fried rice. MSG or not. Garlic butter would make styrofoam packing peanuts tasty.

And poor thing, you had to go through all that it is benihana in order to get that rice.

Oh, OK. Thank you.

Is Gatorade an acceptable generic name for sports drinks?

@Clams047 - So if I want a bottle of Dasani water, I should just ask for a Coke? Come on, you're being pedantic.

Best Buffets in the World

NYC is NOT a buffet town. Every once in a while someone from the 'burbs posts looking for a fancy mother's day buffet or the like.

This is the only one I know of. (Excluding Indian buffets.) Have never been. Hate buffets.

NYC Summer Restaurant Week 2015

I'd never heard that, but it's great: Salmon Week. And hanger steak.

EDIT: PAS and RP menus do sound pretty good for that price.

Best lunch with clients in Midtown/Time Square?

Del Frisco's has 12 location in cities from NY to Vegas, Charlotte to Ft Worth. The amount of locations and their 3rd tier cities just make it feel more chain-y to me.

It is part of a Restaurant Group that has other brands and is publicly traded.

Otto opens at 11:30 AM Sunday and takes reservations, or a seat at the bar is my preference.

Name a dish that you cannot find anywhere in town that you have to make yourself???

Hope and Anchor is is part of the Rhode Island state motto, appearing on its flag. Indeed, H&A in Red Hook began as a Rhode Island diner or at least owned by Rhode Islanders. Clam Cakes (and cabinets!) are RI staples.

Scottish themed pubs/restaurants in Manhattan

"why is sheep lung illegal in us"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haggis

"In 1971 it became illegal to import haggis into the US from the UK due to a ban on food containing sheep lung, which constitutes 10 to 15% of the traditional recipe.[23] The situation was further complicated in 1989 when all UK beef and lamb was banned from importation to the US due to a BSE crisis.[23] In 2010 a spokeswoman for the US Department of Agriculture stated that they were reviewing the ban on beef and lamb products, but that the ban on food containing sheep lung would remain in force.[23]"

OR
http://munchies.vice.com/articles/the...

"The reasoning behind the USDA’s ban on lungs is generally couched in terms of food safety. Fluids—specifically, ones that might make you squeamish, including stomach fluids—sometimes make their way into the lungs of an animal during the slaughtering process."

Just look in menupages and you'll see dozens overall with a few in Manhattan. I've seen it on menus but don't recall where as I'm not that into Chinese food. But menupages lists a few in Manhattan - I just did a perfunctory search.

Freshest whole garlic

It's not sprouted. I'm addressing that very specific criteria.

8th ave and 25th; 10th ave and 23rd St

And I will admit, since I use garlic within a multi-ingredient recipe, I may not have such a cultivated palate for its peak of freshness.

Freshest whole garlic

I rarely see sprouted garlic in markets - whether WF, the greenmarket, the guy at the corner or Key Foods. It only seems to sprout in my fridge after I forget about it.

Try the corner fruit vendors? Manhattan Fruit Exchange at Chelsea Market? Fresh Direct.
