looking for some good pizza or Italian.

Carmine's is vile. Gloppy red sauce and cheese covered mess for people into quantity over quality. Try Carbone instead:

"Country club casual" dress code. What is it?

Has little to do with real food and dining. The same answer keeps coming up over and over. The answer was easily found via google and required no snarky discussion. One of the things I dislike about chowhound. BUT.. if people are enjoying it, I'm OK with being the outlier and wish everyone fun in the community feeling.

EDIT: Getting worse. I know it is Not About Food, but come on, watches? Not even close to the site's focus.

"Country club casual" dress code. What is it?

Google search shows:

COUNTRY CLUB CASUAL. Women: Choose an open-necked or polo shirt. You can also opt for dresses and skirts with minimal accessories. Men: Wear an open-necked or polo shirt, paired with khakis. Accessorize with leather shoes and a belt.

16-YO intro to fine (and funky?) dining

Robataya - food is served from long-handled wooden paddles by the chefs
The Breslin - has some funky British dishes like scrumpets, boiled peanuts in fat, beef and stilton pie.
Marta and Co. for pizzas beyond the tomato sauce and cheese type.

If you had $500 to spend on one meal for 2, where would it be?

Depends a bit on where I was moving to. For example if it's a sushi wasteland, I'd dine at 15 East for omakase with some great wines.

need a suggestions for a midtown lunch meeting

Yes, that IS midtown. It's just that all the places you listed are not in midtown but in West Chelsea/Meatpacking District.

What's more important, choosing from that list or a midtown location?

Best restaurant for chocolate cake

The website trockwood kindly linked and sent has information:

need a suggestions for a midtown lunch meeting

None of these are in midtown. Is midtown essential?

Of this list I'd say Fig and Olive is most 'impressive' visually for a client. (Meatpacking)

Empire Diner is more neighborhoody. it's a real diner.

Standard is tourists - lots of chavs, D&G types

Cook Shop is good food, a little of everything crowd-wise. Nothing spectacular though.

Found this by googling: per se dessert tasting menu

http://blog.forbestravelguide.com/whe...

or
http://www.villagevoice.com/restauran...

Or
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/05/din...

Per Se
The dessert tasting menu starts like any other experience at this Thomas Keller restaurant — with amuse bouches. The sweet starters mimic Per Se’s customary salmon cornets and gruyere gougéres that kick off lunch and dinner service, currently translated into pineapple cornets and rhubarb ice cream bon bons. While the dessert tasting menu changes often, you have a good chance of experiencing Per Se’s signature “coffee and doughnuts” dish — cinnamon sugar covered brioche doughnuts are served with cappuccino semifreddo. At the end, you’ll be treated to mignardises including truffles and pâtes des fruits. The menu ($65 including tip) is available in the restaurant’s salon area — a walk-in only lounge that’s slightly more casual than the Five-Star dining room.

Help with final dinner decision: Babbo, Locanda Verde, Osteria Morini or...?

"If you were going out for Italian, where would you go?"

Via Carota because I want to try it.

Of those I have already experienced: Morandi because I love their outdoor seating and tagliata / bistecca fiorentina. L'artusi for pasta. Lupa or Otto for salumi, wine lists.

Phrases You Don't Hear Anymore

What does this have to do with a food board?

I can see a lot of these sayings do mention foods (the OP, for example) but many are just sayings in general.

Going Away Party

How many peeps?

Throwing out some ideas:
Otto
Rubirosa
Blue Ribbon Brasserie (depending on number of people)
Seamore's

CO - West Chelsea - Still great pizza

That's enough spinach for Popeye, Olive Oil and the rest of the characters!

CO - West Chelsea - Still great pizza

Late lunch Friday outdoors with the pup. Ordered the Pizza flambe as I've been craving The Modern's tarte flambe. Delicious crust with good char, perfect thickness/thinness. Not too heavy in the cheese and creme fraiche department, lardons sizzling.

Wanted a negroni but they do not have a full liquor license, though they do offer a quasi-negroni with prosessco, vermouth and bitters. White wine blend of viognier-grenache and one more varietal I can't recall only $8 per glass. Such a nice afternoon.

GT - great
River Cafe - classic and romantic.
Rainbow Room - no idea how it is now.

Contra
Betony
Batard

SF Chowhound Asking for Review of Itinerary

Since you asked...this is a very boring itinerary. Looks like one you'd make for your elderly grandparents who aren't too adventurous. Most your choices are ten plus years old too. Nothing new and innovative except for Cosme.

Maya Restaurant - meh. I love Mexican and this is nothing special. Pass
Dinner at Sfoglia - Seems ok for the area which doesnt have a lot of options. Also look at Morini
Barbetta - meh. Tourist trap.
Dirt Candy - good choice
Café Boulud - decent choice but better upscale options that are more exciting.
La Birreria. Prefer other options at Eataly
Jo Jos - Again, old people's place. Whatever
Artisanal - go only for cheese. It's been a mess for years now otherwise. New ownership has been trying hard though.
Gato - decent option
Cosme - there you go, finally something new and interesting
Tal Bagels - Good
BeccO - Meh. Pass.

The Marshall is well-liked on this board but I haven't been. Menu looks so good.

I like Tehuitzingo for good Puebla style Mexican - not fancy at all.
