Wood Fire Kirby's -- Greenville Avenue

Some friends went a month or two ago and were very unimpressed. They mentioned poor service and lackluster food, but I don't recall the specifics. I'll see if I can get more some time today.

Best Chinese buffet in Dallas

I live around the corner from where August Moon was, and I can assure you they're closed. The place is currently in the middle of being gutted and turned into yet another bank. Just what we need!

Denison/Sherman Options?

Yes! That's the name.

Denison/Sherman Options?

The husband and I are fond of the little Italian restaurant attached to the Homestead Winery in downtown Denison, right on Main. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's solid Italian-American fare and if you're used to Dallas prices, insanely cheap. I believe they have live music on Saturday nights, and it was a fun little scene. Very popular with the locals. I can't recall the name, but look for the sign for the winery on Main St.

Best Fajitas in Dallas?

The fajitas at Don Pepe's Rancho at Arapaho & Coit are pretty darn good.

Vodka in Pie Crust

It's the only way I do pie crust now... It makes crust so much easier to handle for those of us who don't have the knack of rolling out nearly dry dough. Before, my crusts were more patch than anything else. :) The results are very good and much more consistent than I got before.

Restaurant Week Old Warsaw Style

If you have wanted to go for 30 years, but haven't (am I understanding your post correctly?), I'd say that's exactly why they've got those ads.

Snow cones in Texas - Best ones???

The husband and I like to walk up to this one on hot afternoons (such a great thing to have in the neighborhood). It's definitely good, and I think has gotten better since the change in owners.

So I stopped For BBQ in Calera, OK...

The husband and I were up that way this weekend, and were a bit disappointed. I'm guessing things have changed a bit in the last 9 months? Brisket was flavorful but awfully dry, and the sausage was just... odd. The seasoning was delicious, but the casing was too tough and the filling had a strange, sponge-like texture. The casing was so tough that the filling squished out while you tried to cut it with the *serrated* knife. Very tough indeed. The ribs, at least, were outstanding.

The potato salad was really tasty, but the beans were just okay. Nothing to write home about. This is a decent place to stop for grub on the way to or from Tulsa as it's not out of the way and everything else so convenient is fast food, but I wouldn't drive up from the Metroplex just for this Q.

Best part of the meal? I asked the nice fellow at the pit what he recommended, and he said, "Food." Totally deadpan.

Going to the Mansion tonight

If you enjoy lemon, the lemon dessert plate was out of this world... Several different lemony desserts, each very, very good.

Best Sandwich in Dallas

I love love love the ham and poblano melt at Central Market.

Mam Papaul's King Cake mix

Saw it at Central Market this weekend.

chicken tikka masala

I must have miss the part where anyone discussed the authenticity of chicken tikka masala. Surely the thread is about finding a recipe for it?

Rubashkin's Aaron's Best Turkey in Dallas

Thanks!

Rubashkin's Aaron's Best Turkey in Dallas

Your Tom Thumb must be better stocked than mine... There's an occasional Empire Kosher turkey in the freezer, but that is it. Everything else is Butterball and Jennie O! Which do you go to?

[DFW] Company Holiday Party

Ideas for a holiday party between Ft. Worth and Dallas? 20-30 people, not overly formal, but not super casual, either. Dress will probably be business casual. I've only been in Dallas a couple years and hate to admit that my knowledge of this sort of stuff is limited to Addison/Far North Dallas/Plano... And even then, I don't know so much.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

A Dallas Board?? [Moved from Texas board]

Sounds great to me, too. It would make it far less likely that I read a post, fall in love with a restaurant and then spend the afternoon weeping because it's several hours away!

DFW - Upscale Indian Restaurant

I wouldn't call it fantastically authentic, but Clay Pit is tasty, if nothing else. Their weekday buffet is one of the better lunch deals near my office.

Farmers Market in Plano, TX

That's odd... I could swear the last time I went to the DFM, there was one shed that was specifically labeled for local foods.

Absolute best burger in Texas?

It's kind of in a weird place, as far as upscale vs. casual atmosphere goes... The Mister and I have gone before plays/events and have been dressed up, which doesn't feel weird, but there are always people there in jeans and flip flops. It strikes me, given the food and the atmosphere, as somewhere in between. I usually err towards overdressed, though.

Give their pork chop a go some time, it's delicious!

DFW to Enid Oklahoma

Second the Hideaway, if you happen to be near a location.
