Is the waitress obligated to tell you about happy hour drink specials?
I knew because of all the times I went its always been 2 for 1 and I have never recalled it being for the small or large. And I've been going at least 6 times a year for the past 14 years. We went outside and looked for a sign, it does say Happy Hour 2 for 1 on the signs outside. I will make a point to walk over and take a pic of the sign and clarify what it said. I was just bummed, and I've waitressed for years and would of never not said, get the small its 2 for 1, but that is just me, I certainly realize people are different that's the way it is.
Is the waitress obligated to tell you about happy hour drink specials?
Last night my sister and I went out to a mexican restaurant that we have been going for years. When I say years, we are not 'regulars', don't know staff, just go every few months. Its nothing fancy at all but they have a great margarita/chips salsa and always hits the spot and the price is right.
We get there and order 2 frozen margaritas, waitress says large or small, we say large. We have 2 each, great meal and ask for the check. The drinks were $40.00. I've never even spent that before in the past on the food and drink combined for one person. We figured it was a mistake since happy hour is 2 for 1. So we tell the waitress who says, its not happy hour on the large ones, I thought you knew. My sister says, how would we know if you didn't tell us? The waitress then walked away making a huffing sound. We paid and left, as we were outside, my sister said I'm going back in just to make a point of saying we should of been told then we decided against it and said we just won't go back. I know I will since I really like the food but this left a totally bad taste in my mouth. And also just left me mad.
Which brings me to my question, should the waitress of told us about the drink special? Or was it up to us to confirm it with her?

Best Chicken in Manhattan?
There is a spanish place that I believe is called Isla on 14th Street between A and B but closer to B that makes AMAZING roast chicken. The spices on it are so good and they are really meaty and moist. Its sooo good (and inexpensive) I may have to get it tonight. I definitely say worth trying with rice and beans, Delicious!
Surf and Turf
I'm looking for any restaurant rec's that serve the classic 'surf and turf'. A nice filet and lobster tail on one plate. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Favorite Vendors at Union Square Farmer's Market
There used to be a vendor with a blue tent that sold baked clams and other clam items. Does anyone know if he is still there? Its been a long time since I saw him. The baked clams they have are delicious.
The Redhead- A new favorite place
I've been a few times and service and food were always excellent. The fried chicken is so good and not greasy at all. The chips with the dip are addicting!
Your Single Favorite Thing In Your Kitchen
Chopper Hopper - so simple and so handy!!!!
Use a pen and get the order right!
This has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time and it finally reached its point on Saturday night: Waiters/Waitresses that do not write your order down when they take it., It happens all the time in NYC when I go out. Which is fine if you get the order right but if you don't its frustrating and predictable that something will go wrong.
Saturday night - out to a lovely dinner with the boyfriend at a place we frequent. Its always delicious and service pleasant. The waitress comes over for our order. We order an appetizer, 2 pastas and 2 sides of vegtables. I ordered my pasta with no tomatoes. (fyi, it doesn't even say it comes with diced tomatoes on the menu, I just know it does from ordering it over the years and always request it without them.) You can tell when she took our order and kept repeating it to us - which wouldn't have to happen if she just wrote it down - that something was going to come out wrong. Sure enough, tomatoes on my dish. The BF just dug in my dish and ate them. I could of sent it back but didn't since the BF ate them. But I was just pissed as I knew something would go wrong as she was confused about the order from the start because she never wrote it down.
Does this happen to anyone else????
Alidoro - just plain rude
I agree it was very rude. I also agree mistakes are mistakes. But her mistake was treating you that way!
Your favorite underrated slice?
Agree - they do have a great sicilian slice. They also make awesome hero's.
Rude dinner guests: how to handle them
I'm so curious what she wrote you back...
But admire your response. Obviously you have had it with this person and now you are free of them.
Butcher Bay????
Anyone been to Butcher Bay, the old Seymour Burton? Reviews have been great.
