Guess it depends on what you like to drink! I prefer IPA's, stouts and porters....I started with an IPA, then a dry stout, then various styles till I found my favorites. I'm not big on hefewiesens, but other than that I keep experimenting...

I understand the advantages of All-Grain brewing, but I already spend 6 days a week at my business! The sundays I home-brew give me a chance to relax and experiment while not consuming too much of my free time....and the beer is pretty good as well!

Your favorite brewpub chains?

Duclaw brews beers for ALL their locations off of rt7 in Abingdon (just outside Belair). They make some excellent beers (Bad Moon Porter is my favorite), but their food is hit or miss at times. I like their crab dip alot, and several of the sandwiches. I do wish they would bring back the appetizer sampler, which used to be a meal for me

My beerlist from Max's taproom doesn't list any Russian River beers currently, although things do change....

Favorite Beer in America?

Duclaw's Bad moon Porter and Serum
Stone Arrogant Bastard (hell, just reading the bottle is worth the price )
Brewer's Art Ressurection
Southern Teir IPA (basically, thier entire line is great)
Great Lakes Brewing Company Blackout Stout
Clipper City all the Heavy Seas line

My wife gave me a homebrewing kit in 2005, and after starting my first batch (an IPA as I recall), I have been brewing on a weekly-biweekly basis since, my best guess approx 100 batches. Strictly an extract brewer, but gotten pretty good at it, especially stouts and IPA's, with a few Belgian tyoes just for fun. My best brew? I made an IPeachA with some left over peaches from my bakery...it was great!

beyond Berger cookies and Old Bay

Just a BTW, but Fenwick Bakery peach cake is available through Chesapeake Bay Gourmet (www.cbcrabcakes.com). They can ship it to Eugene, Or. I imagine .

Bob W, you are obviously a man of discriminating taste!

best shot for beers out of the norm in Baltimore area is Well's Liquors on York Rd. Belair area, maybe WineWorld off of rt24 (Abingdon) or Jim's Bottles up RT1 near Hickory. I understand that Stone's Brewery is about to be distributed in the area, so can Russian River be far behind?

Beer-Home brewing supplies

I also purchase items online from Northern Brewer...good prices on hops and dry malt extract (55lb bag for about 118.00). Even with shipping it works out to be a better price than many local shops.

Beer-Home brewing supplies

Aberdeen has Home-brew Cellar, and Fallston area (long green pike) has the Thristy Brewer, run by a very informative gentleman named Tom Davidson. You might also check some of the home-brew clubs around, as they are a great resource.
