Local source for cider/red-wine vinegar?
My family is doing the Eat Local Challenge this September and I'm on the hunt for local ingredients. Today: vinegar, and it must be from fruit, not grain, due to allergies in my family. I found the balsamic at Cooper Mountain but I need something for pickling.
And if anyone has ever done this challenge her in the NW and knows good sources for basic ingredients, beyond meat, dairy, eggs and produce (which I have covered), I'd love to hear your recommendations!
Food on the San Juan Islands?
I prefer Orcas over San Juan because it's a little less touristy and more laid-back. Good eats: Olga Cafe (it's still open, I was just there), Doe Bay (though service is VERY, uh, laid-back, food is outstanding), and The Kitchen for casual meals.

Strange. I was just in Olga and the cafe was there, though the menu did seem a little more upscale, as you said, though I didn't think about that until now. The gift store was there, too. Perhaps it's all under new management? Nothing really seemed that different to us, honestly. (cross posted in the thread you mentioned above)
