Take Out in Lowell, MA

I looked up China Star and the address I found was 369 Broadway. Then I saw China Star Lounge at 1733 Middlesex St. Did it move from Broadway to Middlesex ST?

Take Out in Lowell, MA

We will be attending the Trombone Shorty Concert in Lowell. In the past, we would take out food from the South East Asian, but they are no longer open. Looking for suggestions.

Dinner in Hyannis

Looking for restaurants in Hyannis. On previous posts, most suggestions are for surrounding towns. We are meeting relatives and don't have very much time to be together. We want to spend time is a restaurant not in the car. Looking for something more upscale than a clam shack and less than a 5 star restaurant.

Lunch along RTS 89 and 93

We stopped at the Bedford Village Inn. We shared an Asian Salad and the Shrimp Wraps from the Sunday Brunch Menu. We ate on the patio. This was a nice finishing touch to our overnight trip to NH.

Wineries near Geneva, NY

A few years ago we explored some wineries to the south and east of Geneva. We are thinking of taking a trip back to the Fingfer Lakes but staying near Geneva. Which are the best vineyards in that area?

Thanks, TaTee. Have you ever tried the tuna stack appetizer?

Porter and Luke's

On a Tuesday night, I would like to eat in Metairie or Kenner. I have been to Drago's many times. I thought I would try Porter and Luke's. If I go there, what is their best dish. Or, if you think I should go elsewhere, what do you suggest?

Looking for CAN'T MISS places in NOLA. please help!!!

Don't miss Brigtsen's.
For a standard but very good breakfast try Betsy's Pancakes on Canal. Blue Dot Donuts is very popular.

Old Arabi Eats

I can't find a web site for them. I called their phone number and got a non descript answering machine. I have heard good things about the place. I will be in near that neighborhood around lunchtime. I was wondering if I should go there for lunch or dinner. My fear about lunch is they will be serving hamburgers and po-boys which is not what I want. If anyone knows their web site please pass it along to me.

Carvers v Pauls

Per a suggestion on Chowhound we went for Breakfast at Carvers. I went simple: eggs over very easy, bacon, home fries , pancakes. The eggs were overcooked by my standards but the bacon was plentiful, the home fries were delicious (they did not require ketchup), and the pancakes were yummy. My spouse tried a chorizo omelet which was disappointing. The next day we went to an old haunt, from my high school days, Pauls. The eggs over easy were cooked correctly (a plus for Pauls) but the home fries were trumped by Carvers.
I did not have bacon or pancakes so I can't compare them. I did have some great rye toast. My spouse was much happier with her order of eggs over easy.

Cafe Galleria in Lambertville Reporting Back

So we did dinner at Cafe Galleria. First, be aware it is BYOB. The salads and onion soup were great. I ordered the tuna which was good. My spouse tried a sesame chicken, shrimp dish that was just ok. Our dinner companions did not say too much about their entrees so you can take that however you want. If I were to return I would keep to the simpler items on the menu.

Reporting Back

Awhile ago I asked for suggestions in the West Village or Tribeca. My wife rejected all the suggestions and we went to Market Table on carmine Stwhich had been suggested by a friend. It was a great choice.
For a starter we shared a side of Charred Brussels Sprouts with bacon, sage and pickled apples. This dish was incredible. Then we each ordered the Flounder, served with parsnip puree, golden beets, and Brussels Sprouts. This dish was outstanding. We finished the night off by sharing a fine, fine, super fine blackberry and peach pie. I think it came with crema sorbet. We arrived at Market Table at 6 PM. By 7:30 when it was dark outside, it was very dark inside. For those of you, "of a certain age" make sure you have a flashlight with you after dark. You very well may need it to read the menu.

Which Should we Choose?

We will be coming in at the Port Authority. As we have not seen the most northern part of the High Line we will walk it to the southern end. So dinner can be in the Village or SoHo.

Which Should we Choose?

A friend told us about Dutch and Hudson Clearwater. She also mentioned Market Table. Market Table reviews were not great and the menu was not that interesting so I eliminated it. I think I saw AG Kitchen on TV.

I am also open to other suggestions.

Thanks for the Portland Suggestions

Quite awhile ago I posted asking for suggestions for dinner in Portland. Two weeks ago we were there. Out of your selections we chose Higgins for a lunch which was great. We shared a $10 sandwich of the day which came with a huge amount of salad and a pasta of the day for $16. They did charge us a split fee on both dishes. So the cost was higher than expected but the food was great. For dinner we went to Cabazon which was excellent. We each had the cucmber/cilantro/ Dungeness crab soup and a bowl of Cioppino. Food was great but the service was a bit ragged. The staff was running around like crazy. My guess is they were short a server. Our last choice was dinner at the UBC, Uptown Billiards Club. The 5-course Tasting Menu for $30 was out of this world. If I lived in Portland I would eat there every time they changed the Tasting Menu, which is about every two weeks. If you are visiting Portland do not miss UBC.
