Mimico, New Toronto & Long Branch restaurants - revised thread!

Surprised to hear that. I've eaten there with friends at least a dozen times since they opened, and none of us has ever been dissatisfied with a meal. Most recently, just over a week ago, 2 of us had the tacos - they were deelish corn tortillas, not flour, and we were all surprised at how filling the 3 tacos were. I had vegetarian, my mate had chicken. The only complaint we've ever had was the unannounced substitution of pinto for advertised black beans - a significant difference that should have been mentioned at ordering. I wonder if that was your case tonight, an unmentioned sub of flour tortillas?

Where does one go to / order in for the best Chinese in this 'hood?
I haven't explored Chinese much during my 12 years here, but would like to have a go-to when the craving hits.
Bonus points for extra vegetarian-friendly.

My neighbourhood faves for other cuisines are Cellar Door, Goodlake, Huevos Gourmet, Bombay on the Lake, Lavinia, Maurya, and Sushi 2 Go (Quensway only).

Long Branch, New Toronto, Mimico Restaurants & Food Shops

Hey, Lavinia Restaurant just called me - they're opening tomorrow, Saturday 24 November. They're then open every night for dinner, except closed Mondays. (There may be a weekend brunch, too, tbd).

Long Branch, New Toronto, Mimico Restaurants & Food Shops

Just stopped in & spoke with the lovely friendly folks at Lavinia. They hope to open by Saturday 01 December - still awaiting their liquor license. The space has been refreshed, and is warm & welcoming, maintaining sophistication. Looking forward to sampling to the menu, which is posted in photos, below!:

Monday dinner: Kensington Market, or College / Spadina / Bathurst / Harbord

Had a reservation at Torito's, but they've just called to advise that they will not be open on Mondays until next week.

Looking for a nice sit-down resto, medium-price, conversation-friendly (and vegetarian-friendly). And recommended for food, of course!

Closed Mondays: Bellevue Cafe, Woodlot...

Open Mondays, & under consideration:
Rancho Relaxo (I like the Mexican there),
Bar Italia (if in a more sophisticated mood),
Messis (a little pricier, but always satisfies),
Supermarket (food can be uneven, but a friend is performing there later that evening),
(The Midtown - haven't been there in a while - branded more as a music venue now?)...
I miss Musa on Dundas / Bathurst!

Which venues am I forgetting? New ones Ive not yet discovered?

Your suggestions?

Thanks!

Dundas & University in Toronto - best lunch meeting spot?

Based on your suggestions, and my own resultant research (including discovering that Midi was booked solid with Winterlicious), I took my meeting group to the Queen & Beaver, which was perfect! Thank you for the recommendation. The front room has only slightly less ambience, but is ideal for conversation, as it contains only about 5 tables, and is separated from the more volume-y larger room, bar, & music. The service was great, and the food was fab - delish! And reasonably priced, to my preferences, anyway. Good wine selection too, in addition to upscale pub beers & ciders. I will definitely return. Thanks again for your help!

Dundas & University in Toronto - best lunch meeting spot?

Any suggestions for a lunch resto with good moderately priced food, and an ambience amenable to a professional discussion, within a couple of blocks of Dundas Street & Unviersity Avenue in Toronto? Thanks for any recommendations!
