Paso Robles Wine Tasting

Many very good wineries west of town. Try Denner, Lone Madrone, Grey Wolf and J. Dusi. In downtown are a few small places with excellent wine, although limited releases.
For dinner try Villa Creek, Bistro Laurent, Artisan and Buona Tavola.

Paso Robles Zinfest 2013? What is changing?

Too many events to rent the Paso Robles Event facility.
Attend and visit the wineries instead.
Or go to Zin Fest at Fort Mason.
Too costly to do both.

Cayucos gas station cinnamon rolls: any good news?

Not sure what has happened, but quality is down. Better baked goods are at the Old Cayucos Bakery behind Hoppe's. They do the baking for Hoppe's Restaurant.

help in selecting shortlisted Dry Creek Valley wineries

Rafanelli for sure. Call to make appointment.
Ridge has many wines, most of which never reach the wholesale marketplace. Very limited and good library selections.

Bike trip - recommendations

Cycling advice to travelers. Pick up or view on line the Santa Barbara County Bicycle maps.
Most long distance travelers will avoid 154 as it is heavily traveled with poor shoulders in place and steep. Highway 1 through SLO County is better and a good route through SB County.
Visit a bike shop in SLO and get a map or visit the Bicycle Coalition.[slobikelane.org)

Places for dinner in San Luis Obispo

For fine, casual dining I recommend Luna Red, located adjacent to the Mission downtown.
A sister- restaurant is Novo, a bit more varied menu. For excellent Italian try Buona Tavola as well as the recommended Cafe Roma.

Central Coast Dinner

Many recommendations on this board, but a real romantic stop would be at Deborah's at Justin Winery. If you are in town, look into Bistro Laurant.

LA to SLO for the Weekend

Be aware of major road construction at the Gaviota Rest stop. Check Highway patrol for updates.
I would use 154.

Best Indian San Francisco

LaHore Karahi has closed and the chef has left the area.

Best Indian San Francisco

We have enjoyed all our visits to Aslam's Rasol on Valencia near 21st in the Mission.
Check out the web site at: http://www.aslamsrasoi.com/
The mixed tandoori seafood is amazing. Good beer on tap and a fine wine list.

Neon Carrot Closes

Local chef Maegen Loring has joined Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa in Shell Beach as its pastry and events chef — a move that will help the resort expand its off-site catering business and give her more time in the kitchen, which she loves. They have closed the Neon Carrot on So. Higuera.

Special winery in Sonoma for Anniversary celebration

This is a wonderful experience. They really do a nice job of pairing their wines and the chef 's choices. I would reserve soon and if you an avoid a weekend, do so. Contact them ASAP.

San Luis Obispo train station - where to get a quick bite to eat

Within about 100 yards walk are the following:
Cafe Roma, nice Italian but not open for lunch. Lotus Thai is a friendly Thai spot and next door is Elephant Thai. My suggestion is a nice lunch at Sally Loo's. Fresh, local ingredients, Get it to go and dine on the train or at the station

Avilla Beach, Los Ossos, Morro Bay Recommendations

There have been many prior discussions on the best places. Hoppe's in Cayucos remains a favorite, along with the Cass house in Cayucos. The Taco Temple remains a local choose as is
Giovanni's on the Embarcadero for fresh fish. A hidden gem is the French Bakery also on the Embarcadero. Many more selections in Cambria, just do a search.

Thursday San Luis Obispo Farmers Mkt

Farmer's Market is about the same as it has been for the last 20 years. Lots of local produce vendors, fewer BBQ, but enough. Jocko's is the best place for a great rib eye (spencer) steak.
Plan on arriving early or expect a long wait. Lots of political based booth, etc. Strawberries are everywhere.

Napa Engagement Proposal - It's Going Down

Plan a special picnic at Ferrari-Carano in their lovely gardens.
We visited and at mid day there were only two other couple anywhere in sight.
Excellent wines as well. Let then know your plans and they might be helpful with privacy.
