Dude, I hate to sound like a jack***, but "organic" isn't synonymous with "better". I hate that moniker. You can now buy Organic frozen dinners. They don't taste good. They aren't healthy. Yet people buy them, because they say "made with organic* ingredients". I would prefer homemade with conventional ingredients any day. And second, Whole Foods is a sham. They don't care one bit about the food. Its money. I make a modest amount a year (about 60,000) and wouldn't dream of shopping there. Wayyyyy too expensive. Farmer's Market near us is MUCH cheaper. |

well known brands that just arent as good as in the past Hate to tell you, but Oreo's made with Sugar are still bad for you. Sure, the latter is worse (HFCS, that is), but that doesn't mean Sugar is healthy by any means. |

No. But what is snobbery is the attitude of "Oh, please, Applebees? How low life of you". Sure, the food may suck. But isn't having that attitude towards chains just as bad as loving a chain? |

I've noticed it especially when out for sushi. most of the time, they don't know what they are talking about. "Dip the whole nigiri in the soy sauce", or to an extent "use soy sauce and wasabi". Also, when I eat sushi without chopsticks (I usually do), those same people look at me as if I am an animal. |

Things kids think are "normal" these days... We don't use drip because it takes too damn long! I have always been a french press guy ever since I was a kid. My cousin works at a roasting house and gives us Rwandan and Balian? coffees. Free of charge, of course. I have built up a resistance to drip and if I can't find pressed coffee, I opt for water. |

Things kids think are "normal" these days... This happens to me almost daily. The other day, I got to the counter with at least seven types of vegetation. First off, I don't bag my produce. Not because I have some weird conspiracy about plastic, but because I don't like the bag dust that gets on the vegetables. I had Kale, Jalapenos, Chard, Carrots (bunched), Tomatillos, Bean Sprouts and Eggplant. All he could identify was the carrots! He helled up a Jalapeno and said, "what is this?".... got me so mad, but I kept it in until I got into the car and muttered with my kids where in the back "What kind of jack*** doesn't know what a Jalapeno is?!" |

Things kids think are "normal" these days... sounds like half the people in New York. "I'm a vegetarian, but I eat chicken and fish...". |

Things kids think are "normal" these days... It gets on my nerves.... The new thing is organic Sandwich cookies. They take all the things in regular Oreo's (flour, sugar, corn syrup, more sugar...) and buy them organic and make a cookie out of it, put some preservatives in it and BAM its healthy! Buying organic Milk and vegetables is one thing, I do it too, but when somebody decides that anything organic is healthy, they are making a huge mistake. |

What's for Dinner? Part 96 [old] Skirt steak marinated in lime juice and cilantro with a salad consisting of romaine (yes, just lettuce!) fresh summer onions, avacado, tomatoes and a vinaigrette made of Olive Oil, White white Vinegar, Dijon mustard, Herbes de Provence and black pepper. Yumm! |

Things kids think are "normal" these days... I grew up being the only one in my household eating exotic food. and healthy food. I gradually turned my mom onto making curries, pho, yakitori, lower quality fish and tajine-based dishes. But I still struggle to understand why my sons friends shun the idea of eating non-organic lettuce and broccoli, but don't think twice about eating Oreo's and drinking soda. The new food phase for kids is organic everything. But processed organic food is just as bad as non-organic processed food. Everything is normal now, but some are more "cool" as my son calls them, then others. |

Not at my local Asian market. 1 1/2 feet to 2 feet long. |

In addition, Cyanide is produced from Cassava, which feeds roughly 700 million people worldwide. Heck, you can find Cassava aka Yuca at any grocery store now a days. |

With all due respect, what is the difference between a baby cow and a full-grown cow? Cuteness? C'mon, that is, dare I say, bull. |

I had the feeling something was fishy....(no pun intended!) The meat was just too flaky and look like arborio rice. Thanks a bunch! |

This weekend I went up to Albany to see a friend. On my way back, I stopped at a little Asian Market on Colvin Avenue. I saw Dungeness crabs, and bagged five and proceeded to the counter. The woman promptly declared "Ninety-Nine Cent a Pound!". I then went back and bought 7. It came to 9.57 for all 7 plus the one I previously bagged. Always going back! |
