Ocean City seafood? [moved from Washington DC/Baltimore board]

They want to go to Waterman's. Any comments?

Ocean City seafood? [moved from Washington DC/Baltimore board]

My sister and her husband are visiting for the first time in 35 years. What do you recommend?

Dim Sum

No shrimp at A & J.

Dim Sum

IMHO, Hollywood East is fabulous as of late.

Korean fried chicken in NoVa?

Not to hijack your thread, but are there any places for Korean fried chicken in suburban MD? Really want to try it.

I agree with many. most glaring omission: yum watercress from Ruan Thai.

Mount Airy/Frederick area suggestions

Dempsey's Grille in Middletown for good fried chicken.

Pork Barrel BBQ

Bush 41 frequented local eateries - Peking Gourmet and Rio Grande come to mind- but Bush 43, not so much.

Seven Seas - Rockville

This got me thinking - there's a Seven Seas in College Park (same owners at one time). Any word on how that place has fared in recent years?

BBQ--looking for the best

I just heard of Blue Ribbon BBQ in Gaithersburg. Anyone shed some light?

Bobby Flay’s Burger Palace to open August 16

I was driving through College Park Saturday evening, and saw signage for a Bobby's Burger Palace on the west side of Route 1, just north of campus.

Fast Gourmet - anyone?

http://www.fast-gourmet.com/index.htm

Ugly website, but intriguing menu, and reasonable prices. I'll be going soon, but would like to hear from anyone who's already eaten there.

Fish Tacos?

Do you mean Tackle Box? There is no Bethesda location. Perhaps you mean Freddy's Lobster & Clam?

Gillian Clark's fried chicken

Now served at Freddy's in Bethesda on Thursdays only.

Thought you'd like to know.

Crisfield Seafood Restaurant

Crisfield's crabcakes are lacking, but their stuffed shrimp and stuffed flounder are outstanding.

7-foot submarine sandwich

In MD, I'd try Marchone's or Snider's.

Againn in Rockville closing

Any landlord that could drive Houston's out would have no problem doing the same to Againn.

Mahi Mahi Bethesda

Ouch. Maki Maki is probably the actual name. Thanks for the correction.

If you were a foodie and could live anywhere in/near DC - where would it be?

I would live within walking distance of Eden Center.

Mahi Mahi Bethesda

Just got lunch delivered, and had to jump on to say their Sesame Chicken is outstanding. California roll was good, too, and their salad wasn't just iceberg.

Very pleasant surprise.

Dried strawberries

TJ's offers a medley of blueberries, cherries, and strawberries, but not strawberries solo. They do have freeze-dried strawberries.

I'll check out Whole Foods.

Dried strawberries

Where in Montgomery County can I find dried (not freeze-dried) strawberries?

Top ten over-rated restaurants in Baltimore

"9. Matthew's Pizzeria: Oops! Not really a restaurant (according to B-more Mag, pizzerias are NOT restaurants) Matthew's has been serving not very good pizza in a rundown space since 1948. But at least it's been consistent over the years."
Disagree. I love Matthew's and drive up from DC at least twice a year.

ISO Vietnamese restaurant in Rockville/Bethesda/Gaithersburg

Mi La Cay is the actual name. Very tasty and inexpensive.

I can't believe how BaLe has gone down the drain.

What places do you love in Montgomery County that appear to be in danger of closing?

I second the Fresh Grill rec. I think their burger is comparable to Ray's Hellburger, but BGR seems to be getting all of the traffic.

Steaks in College Park

That would be Woodmont Grille in Bethesda, directly across from Black's. Part of the Houston's chain.

New Fortune dim sum - The trick

is to sit near the kitchen. Having found New Fortune a little hit-or-miss on my last few visits, I made a point of getting seated near the kitchen yesterday. The results: dim sum that was hot, fresh, and delicious. New Fortune is also more reasonably priced than my other favorite, Hollywood East.

Soft Shell Crabs!

Had a great soft-shell crab platter from Cameron's in Silver Spring. Two decent-sized, perfectly fried, with fries and slaw, for $8.95. Such a deal.

I'm done with BaLe Rockville

I can only assume a change of ownership has occurred. I was there for lunch today at noon. First things I noticed: the place was empty, and there was an underlying rancid odor. The menu, and especially the banh-mi menu, has narrowed conspicuously, with the combo, among others, no longer available.

Oh well, scratch one from my list.
