According to this article, it's available fresh in Toronto where there is a large Indian population. Has anyone seen it in a Chinese supermarket?
Any tip is greatly appreciated!

What is the different between Korean soy sauce and Chinese soy sauce? [moved from Ontario]
I'd like to try making my own Kalbi sauce for a change and wonder what the difference is in taste between Korean soy sauce and Chinese soy sauce?
Or a better question is what types of soy sauces do Koreans use for their cooking?
Below is a good link on the recipe.

▇▇▇ Looking for economical do-it-yourself sushi ingredient suppliers ▇▇▇
I've been to the PAT's in Scarborough and they don't have fresh fish.
Foody's Supermarket at Warden and Bamborough has a sushi counter. They have a guy who supplies them with ready-made stuff. All they have to do is make the rice and place the ingredients on top.
This is what I'm looking for, ready-made sushi ingredients at a reasonable cost.
Thanks!

Thank you for reading this post.
I'm planning to make sushi for my own consumption. I am looking for stores/individuals that sell sushi ingredients at a reasonable price. I find Taro's Fish's ingredients are pricier than Chinese supermarkets sell their final products. Does anyone know any store or individual supplier, preferable in the North York, Scarborough areas that you can recommend?
Thank you in advance!

Dim Sum lunch at Regal 16 - Ordinary presentation but great tasting.
Just an observation, it's interesting how two different individuals can have two completely different opinions on the same restaurant - Regal 16.
Spiny Lobster
Has anyone ever tasted spiny lobster before? What is the taste like compared to American lobster? Where to buy in GTA? And how much a pound?
The search for acceptable Dim Sum continues! - This time, 'Sam Woo Seafood Restaurant'.
Hi Charles,
Appreciate this type of threads you started. Hope you also provide the pricing at each Dim Sum restaurant as well. (e.g., price for Small, Medium, Large, and special price hours, etc.)
Have you come across any restaurant charging lower than $1.50 a dish?
Please welcome anyone else to contribute.

Eric

Price of kosher salt
The price of kosher salt at no frills is $4.99, three times the price of sea salt. Is this normal? I thought it's cheaper to make kosher salt? Could someone shed some light?

Looking for the best kaiser bread in Toronto
Thanks for your reply juno! Yes, Kaiser rolls is what I meant. The last time I was at Bagel Plus I was told they didn't sell kaiser rolls.
I wish there were more of these types of Jewish bagel shops in the east end. Are there any in Scarborough?
Looking for the best kaiser bread in Toronto
Hi all,
I am looking a place to buy kaiser bread. The type I'm looking for is lightly crusted on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. When pressed, the crust cracks, preferably still warm.
Anyone knows a place sell such kaiser bread? Preferably in the Scarborough and North York areas.
Thanks!

Where to buy FRESH imitation crab meat ?
jayt90,
Thank u so much for that complete answer! By fresh I meant not frozen before. But as you said, you can't guarantee that it has never been frozen before.
Taro's seems to be a bit pricy though.
Where to buy FRESH imitation crab meat ?
The type of imitation crab meat sticks they sell in Chinese supermarkets are frozen. By the time you defrost them, they just don't taste good. So I'm looking for fresh ones, like the ones in the pic. Anyone knows where you can get them?

Where can you buy uncooked e-fu noodles in Toronto?
Thank you all for your replies, especially "ssainani" for the pic!
"Sweetie" is right. I saw the version "ssainani" provided. But it looked much thicker, hard and very easily breakable, so I didn't think that was it!
Thank you all again!

Fondue or Chinese Hotpot cooking fuel
Hi,
I'm looking for a alcohol-based liqulid fuel (denatured alcohol) that's used to cook a Chinese hotpot or a fondue.
Does anyone know what's exactly called? Where can I buy a product like this in Toronto?
I already called Homedepot and they don't seem to have something like this.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Below is a pic of the burner. Liqulid fuel is put in the container and lid with the cotton ball on top.
