Anyone know if Yung Sing has reopened yet or what the planned date is?
Barcelona Casual Dining Places
We'll be staying next to the Passeig de Gracia metro station and were wondering if there were any good restaurants within walking distance. We've already picked Cinc Sentis as one of our meals but were looking for more casual places for both Tapas and regular restaurant dining.

Burlington area Sunday dinner with older parents -please help
Thanks to all for your suggestions. We wound up going to Spencer's, which was a good choice. No stairs, fairly quiet, food was very good - perfect for the seniors in the family. Only complaint was that it was a little dark. Pickerel with risotto was a standout, ditto for the slow roasted beef.. Desserts were ho hum.
Burlington area Sunday dinner with older parents -please help
Dear Chowhounders,
Next Sunday I am taking my mid-eighties mother and father out for a Thanksgiving dinner . They live in Burlington, so I am looking for something not too far from there.
An ideal place would be something that is relatively quiet, with not a lot of stairs. Cost not a consideration. Italian, French, Seafood are some of their favourites.
Any suggestions?
Yonge/St.Clair - new restaurants
New sign posted on the restaurant that used to be Mint. It's going to be a swarma/donair/gyros place. There's even a website already: http://spinnerssandwich.ca/ Is it a chain? Does anyone know about it?
No news on the other one yet (that used to be Mediterranean Garden)
Yonge/St.Clair - new restaurants
On the west side of Yonge, just south of St.Clair, there appear be two new restaurants about to open. One was the former Mint, the other Mediterranean Garden.
Does anybody know what is going into these places?
favourite ice cream or gelato flavours and where to get them 2009
Xoco Cava - Meyer Lemon is very good, also try a combination of the Hazelnut with the fairly intense dark chocolate sorbet. Grapefruit sorbet is good too.
Indian....again
If you go out to Ajax, the Mt. Everest on the North side of Kingston Rd a few blocks West of Westney Rd has a chef/owner who grinds his own spices. Call to make a reservation as he is often full.
Best Indian in GTA in my opinion.
Does anybody know about senior's steak?
Another suggestion for a romantic steak house would be Tom Jone's behind the King Eddie hotel. They opened in 1964 and I don't think the menu has changed since - very old school. The piano bar upstairs if definitely a romantic setting. The steaks are good but not the best in the city.
Does anybody know about senior's steak?
I live in the area and have dined there a few times. Definitely not for Valentine's day! Seniors is old and run down, offering mediocre steaks. Tasty rice pudding though.
If your BF is looking for a place in the area suitable for Valentine's try Didier or Cava.
Disappointing lunch at Superior
Senator Diner is located on the east side of Victoria Street, just south of Dundas. This is a diner from the 1920's so the place has some character. My favourite is the burger (cooked medium) with fries (thin and crispy), and a milkshake (thick, but could use a little more flavour). Other options include meatloaf, sandwiches, breakfast, mac and cheese, etc. I didn't care for the fish and chips though (batter was too doughy)
Overall, a fun place with character that serves good, slightly upmarket diner food (ie, not a greasy spoon), for slightly upmarket prices.
Go early as they fill up quickly and don't take reservations.
For Salad King, I enjoy their curries very much, but I can't comment on the rest of the menu. They also have a upscale restaurant upstairs for dinner.
Disappointing lunch at Superior
I've been to the Superior a few times over the years, and what you experienced was what they have delivered in the past - food and service that is mediocre at best. If you are looking for something in the same area next time, try the Senator Diner, or Salad King (Thai). Both are better options at a lower price.
Chinese Noodle Cake - recipe needed
You're right, it's way easier to just buy it (and cheaper too!). The main reason I want to do home-made is that my wife remembers getting noodle cake with honey in it from the local bakery when she was a kid - but we can't find that version anymore. Might even try it with maple syrup if I'm feeling adventurous!
Best grilled cheese in the GTA
Believe it or not, Hooter's has a very nice double decker grilled cheese!
Chinese Noodle Cake - recipe needed
I think this might be it! I've never seen it with raisins or sesame seeds though. Any chance you have an English translation of the recipe?
Chinese Noodle Cake - recipe needed
I have been searching without success for a recipe for Chinese Noodle Cake, which is a sweet that I can get at our local Chinese bakery and I would love to try at home. Does anyone have a recipe?
Warden & Steeles For Dinner???
I used to live on Bamburgh, and the one thing I really miss is the chicken curry with rice at DR Wings in the Bamburgh plaza - best in the city as far as I can tell. Portugese chicken with rice is good too.
Dinner recs before Buddy Guy's Legends?
My wife and I will be in Chicago over the labour day weekend, and we were looking for a place for dinner before walking over to Buddy Guy's Legends. Somebody recommended a new restaurant called Exposure, but I have been unable to find anything on it either here or elsewhere on the web. Has anyone been there, and can they recommend it?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
