New Trend in Tipping?

Healthy...There was no mention of the auto tip anywhere that I can remember seeing it. The bill just showed up that way and I happened to be paying attention to it.

New Trend in Tipping?

DallasDude...thanks for the research! I am going to have to try and start showering more often and leaving my shopping cart of "treasures" at home. :-)

All that being said, I guess I'll have to give Neo's the benefit of the doubt and just say it was a mistake because there most certainly was nothing going on in Victory Park on Thursday night. They serve a really good pizza there and I'd like to add it into the rotation.

With regard to BB, we did do the Rodizio service and I can sort of understand this one. I'm never sure what to tip at a "buffet" (even a pricier one). I guess I just don't like not being given the option to decide.

I'm thinking we can all now consider this case closed!

New Trend in Tipping?

Brazil Brasiliero in Richardson and Neo Pizza in Victory Park - It was our first time at each and it was off putting enough that it might sway me not to go back.

New Trend in Tipping?

I have a quick question for everyone. I have been to two separate restaurants in the past week that have both included an 18% gratuity for my party of two (with the option to add more). I didn't necessarily have a problem with it, as I usually tip 20%, but I wasn't real happy about it either. Is this part of some new trend or did I just happen to pick the two places in Dallas that do this?

Buc'ees - what's up with this place ???

Mabmaq...

I'm not sure how familiar you are with Sheetz back east, but Buc'ees is a combination of a Sheetz (all the made to order food)...a Quiktrip (all the fountain drinks and snacks)...and a Cracker Barrel (all the random toys and other crap) all rolled into one. Between Dallas and Houston, it is definitely the cleanest and most fun place to stop for a few minutes. I would recommend it as a nice place to stop, have a quick snack, and stretch your legs.

One meal in Dallas? Must be near-ish to Love Field. . .

William...I won't 100% concur with picky's summary of the meal, but I will say that my wife and i have been huge fans of Gloria's since we moved to Dallas 4 years ago. The last time we went (September?) there was just something sort of off about the whole night. It was like they had changed the recipes for everything. Now maybe this was just a bad night, but it sure seemed like something more than that (as our previous couple of trips had been kind of suspect too).

We tried Mario Sabino's this weekend and i have to say it reminded me of the Glroia's we fell in love with 4 years ago.

Just my opinion though...

Veggie Burger in Dallas

I will second this one! It is a spicy (but not too spicy) black bean burger that's great with their homemade sweet potato chips and fresh root beer. YUMMY!

Best Fajitas in Dallas?

FoodCzar...

As far as restaurant fajita's go, I gotta say that Pappasito's makes one of the best beef fajita's I've ever had. I know it's chain food, but they are pretty darn good!

If you want to do it at home, I would suggest going to any of the La Michoacana grocery stores in town. I've tried the fajita's at several of them and they're usually spot on at each.

Best Restaurant Not in a Major Texas City - Texas

I would like to nominate the Cow Camp Steakhouse in Decatur. This place easily had one of the best steaks I've eaten in a long time. It's a bit of a drive from Dallas (1-1.5 hours), but well worth it if you've got some free time.

Which Wich? vs. Potbelly

Jim...I gotta say go with the Potbelly sandwiches. I've had both places, and while Which 'Wich has a larger selection, I think Potbelly has the better quality sandwich. Just be sure to get it with the hot pepper mix and the BBQ Ranch chips.

Restaurants that do off-site catering (DFW)

Not sure what type of food you are looking for, but the landlord for my office complex catered lunch yesterday using Blue Mesa. It was a pretty slick set-up with real plates, cloth napkins, silverware, etc. The food was really good too (considering it had to travel from Frisco to Arlington). My guess is they could probably do the same for you with your budget.
