Help! Need a decent diner, deli, or cafe near the Hutchinson River Parkway for lunch today! Thank you all for replying. We ended up going to the Saxon Woods Grill at the public golf course. The food was what you would expect (only sandwiches and simple grill items as the kitchen is under renovation for the start the season), but it was easy off easy on the Hutch for them, and we sat at plastic tables outside overlooking the golf course on this great day. They serve drinks, so I would recommend it for a sunset visit as well if you're not bothered by golfers. |

New Whole Foods in Ridge Hill (Yonkers) I wonder how fresh the inventory can be when it's always empty? Not that I mind, or will go to this location as it is an anchor to the Ridge Hill land grab. The bribery trial that converted the swing vote in the City Council of Yonker to allow the development ,is in progress right now. |

Dinner near i-84 from Waterbury through Hartford Thanks again for your replies. We ate at Plan B Burger on the trip up to Boston, and highly recommend it. The burgers were great, the beers on tap were extensive, and the selection of bourbons was impressive. Too bad I couldn't sample them as we had a two hour drive ahead of us after dinner. On the trip home Sunday afternoon, we stopped at Blackies. Truly historical spot with good hotdogs and their special relish. We also enjoyed the white birch beer. I would not call either places culinary destination on their own (but I wish we had a Plan B burger near us), for road food they were perfect. |

Dinner near i-84 from Waterbury through Hartford Thanks for all your suggestions. My list is in driving order: Depending on the time we arrive in the area (some close early) and my son's preference will decide where we go. Will report back early next week. |

Best Value Grocery Shopping in Westchester? Regarding Pelham Manor Fairway, I do fear that management decided on a poor location for the store. Yes, it is in Westchester, and Pelham Manor is nice, but the store is spitting distance from the Bronx, in the shadow of Co-Op City. To get there, the Hutch is nearly always crowded, and most folks would not venture through Mt. Vernon to attempt a local street route. It is just not in the regular pathways of most Westchester and Fairfield County residents. I love the store, and try and shop there as often as I can, but it seems too quiet, and the quality/freshness is suffering. I get the feeling that Fairway management is disappointed too, and their attention is waning due to the lack of action and with the prices going up, it doesn't bode well for the future. Honestly, if it wasn't for the crowds and a bridge crossing, the Fairway on 125th St. would be easier to get to, and it seems "more special". |
