Hi Strumi, (VIENNA) Your leads back in 2008 brought me to some great meals in Vienna, looking for some advice again.

Hi Sturmi. Thanks for sharing your experience. We have an upcoming reservation at Petz. If we are not fond of offal dishes, do you think it would still worth the visit? Could you suggest an alternative? We're partial to the local fare. We have Konstatin Filippou, Steirereck, Poschl, Lugeck lined up. We tried Plachutta by the Opera House. Planning to visit Landtmann/Demel.

Thank you for tips! We're staying near the U-bahn Naturkundermuseum stop - it seems within walking distance to many restaurants. Looking forward to Berlin, and I hope we made good choices for our dining.

Thank you for the clarification - I was actually confused and thought Pfarrwitt and Mayer am Pfarrplatz was one and the same. Which do you prefer for a heurigen - Wieninger or Mayer am Pfarrplatz?

Oh, my mistake - it's Kontantin Filippou (not FK).

Hi Sturmi!

Would you recommend visiting a heurigen during this time? looking at Pfarrwirt or Wieninger...

Our lineup - Gasthaus Pöschl, FK, Lugeck, Steirereck. In between, we will try the different coffeehouses and pastry shops. Looking forward to Vienna!

Thanks for the tip. I've been reading your site and it full of good information.

It will be our first trip to Berlin and a very limited time of only three days to spend. We'll have to choose our meals wisely. Eating is always a highlight for our trips - not necessarily fine dining, but rather we'd like to try good, local food. We're partial to European over Asian food for this trip. So far, we booked 3 Minutes sur Mer and Das Lokal. We're also doing the Thursday food market - can you recommend the "must-trys"? Lastly, if you could only try one place for currywurst and one for doner, which would you recommend?

Hi Reenbean,

We're planning a trip early April, and our restaurant list is similar to yours. Looking to try Reinstoff, Lokal and Facil too. Could you share your Berlin restaurant experience?

Hi Strumi, (VIENNA) Your leads back in 2008 brought me to some great meals in Vienna, looking for some advice again.

I appreciate your suggestions, Sturmi!

We will be staying near the Schwendenplatz Station. As much as we'd like the try the many different restaurant, given the time constraint, we'll have to carefully choose so we may best experience Vienna's offering. When I say "must-try" - those are the restaurant that is worth seeing/trying while in Vienna - we're more for the food (ambience and location is second) and value for money. We'll also have to set time aside for sight-seeing.

If you were to choose for a first-timer....

Rudi's Biesl or Gasthaus Pöschl?

one Coffeehaus?

one Pastryhouse?

We'll definitely will try to book Petz and FK.

Would you say it would be better to dine at Lugeck over Figlmuller (we have a reservation for the Backerstrasse branch)?

I will research on the other places you mentioned.

Thank you!

Hi Strumi, (VIENNA) Your leads back in 2008 brought me to some great meals in Vienna, looking for some advice again.

Hi Sturmi,

I've been reading the threads and posts on Vienna restaurants, and you have certainly given a lot of good advise on where to eat! I will be traveling with my family to Vienna for 3 days end of March - my husband and our 3 children (13, 9 and 1 yr old). It will be a first trip for our children, and we'd like them to experience authentic Viennese cuisine and culture. Considering we do have a toddler, we prefer a restaurant who will not terribly mind this.

So many restaurants, so little time! Could you kindly give your suggestions? We'd like to eat where the locals dine and avoid the tourist trap restos.

Rudi's Bissell or Gasthaus Pöschl - is there much difference between the two?

Cafe Central, Cafe landtmann, Cafe Sperl

Figlmuller - for the schnitzel (is this worth a visit?)

We are also looking for a restaurant for my Dad's birthday - nothing too fancy, but we'd like very good food with reasonable prices. We were thinking Petz Im Gusshaus or Konstantin Filippou --- would lunch do justice?

If there is any "must-try" restaurant, please let us know. We are looking forward to our trip!

Thank you,
Kay

Florence--Please Review My List

Hi DaisyM!

We're bound for Florence in 2 weeks for a short 2 days. Your picks are similar to mine, but I can only choose two. Could you share your experience and perhaps give your two cents on the "not-to-be-missed" restaurant? Which would you suggest for good bistecca? It's been ages since I was last in Florence and don't really know when I'll leave the chance to go back. I'd like to eat well!
Thanks!

Kids and Paris Dining

Thanks so much for your thoughts. I may have to bite the bullet - so as not to miss the chance to dine in these restaurants. Please, if there are any other restaurant you could recommend worth trying with kids in mind, let me know.

Kids and Paris Dining

My husband and I will be traveling to Paris in March along with our 2 children (ages 6 and 10). I've booked several restaurants (Spring and Septime) and plan to make reservations in others (Frenchie, Le Chateaubriand, Chez L'ami Jean). I understand restaurants are quite small. I'm just curious how the French would view "sharing" a prix fixe menu. My children are light eaters, and I don't think they would be able to finish a whole meal. I would appreciate your thoughts. I'm going to Paris for it's food, and with kids, it may be difficult to dine in some places.
