Loblaws and Superstore ?

Agreed. In fact, I decided this weekend, after failing to find several things on my list, to try and find alternative sources for the few PC products that I'm in the habit of buying to get rid of any hold the Loblaws chain has on my buying habits. I'm fed up.

Unfussy good, good food at Yonge/Bloor?

I was at Fire on the East Side for brunch today and was disappointed. My eggs were overcooked (ok, only a little, but still), the bacon was quite fatty (and not peameal, which is what the menu says), and the cornbread that came on the side was rock-hard (unless there's some sort of traditional cornbread that's supposed to be like that that I've never encountered...seriously, it was difficult to cut with a knife). On the plus side, the coffee cake that they set out at the beginning was good, and like magic said, they have great fries. I don't know if it was something to do with the Pride stuff going on today, since it seems to be a place recommended for brunch on here fairly frequently.

Lodge Cast Iron cookware in TO?

I saw some Lodge pans there a couple weeks ago. Don't remember what sizes though.

Saskatoon Berries in Toronto?

I bought some last saturday at the Green Barn farmers' market near St. Clair and Bathurst (Saturday afternoons). Never having tried them before I enjoyed them. Like other people have said, they're blueberrish, but....different. A little bit coarser in texture, but definitely tasty.

soba noodles and 'israeli' couscous

Not sure about the soba noodles; like detritus said sometimes you can find israeli couscous at the grocery store. I've also seen it at Domino's at St Lawrence Market

ISO Duck Eggs

I saw a guy selling them at the Brickworks farmers' market on saturday.

first thing to purchase...?

Just watch out for roommates taking a metal scrubber to your nice heavy nonstick pan that should have lasted years and years :(
