Lobster rolls in or around Norwood?

Bubbling Brook on 109 in Westwood (open seasonally) has lobster rolls. I've never been there but a friend goes for the fried clams, which she likes.

How are these Cape restaurants?

I didn't think the food was as good as other similar places. I have no problem with the not fine dining part. It was crowded, but then most places are in season.

How are these Cape restaurants?

Ate at Mac's Shack last month, and it was as good or better than last year. We had oysters, fried oysters, striped bass, and swordfish, and some other fish. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and we almost went back a second time in the one week.

Haven't eater at Moby Dick's in years. I have never been a fan, but I know people love it, and judging from the number of cars in the parking lot, it's as popular as ever.

Anyone Remember the French Restaurant on Beacon St. Brookline

I think Walter's was there way more than 10 years. I think your memory is fine.

Meal Delivery for New Mom

Heirloom Kitchen doesn't list South Boston in their delivery area but they do go to the South End, so they might be able to accommodate you.

Weekend lunch at Chestnut Hill?

Daikanyama had lots of kids there when we had an early dinner one Saturday. I made my second ever visit to a Cheesecake Factory at the Mall a few weeks ago. The flatbread pizza was pretty tasty. That and a salad would be okay. Tokyo Steak House has a regular restaurant side in addition to the grill table side. The food was just okay, and I probably wouldn't go back, especially with Daikanyama being an option.

Logan Airport Suggestion Needed

You could take the Rowes Wharf water taxi from Logan (near the Hyatt) to Rowes Wharf, near the Boston Harbor Hotel. The round-trip cost is $17, and they will store your luggage for free at Rowes Wharf.

That would give you more options for walking around. You could walk over to the North End for oysters at Neptune or pizza at Regina's or hang out for awhile at Quincy Market.

There are no luggage lockers at the airport, as noted.

Seafood Lunch between Airport and Turo?

Do be mindful of Friday traffic. If you can hold out for food, I'd go directly from the airport and get over the Sagamore Bridge before stopping for lunch. Perhaps someone can recommend somewhere in Sandwich. I have friends who love Seafood Sam's but I've never tried it.

Family 4 kids budget-conscious near Copley

You will be next door to the Prudential Center, which has restaurants and a food court at every budget level. Here's a link:

Restaurant suggestions needed for whirlwind college tour (on a budget!)

When you're in Wellesley visiting Babson, you can try Captain Mardens for seafood. It's a fish market with a small attached no-frills restaurant.

4 days in boston with adventurous chow kids.

Jordan Marsh's Blueberry Muffins

There are a lot of recipes online. Here's the link to one of them:,194,1...

2012 Boston Globe Update: More Fish Fakers

The report in the Boston Globe said that Blue Ginger put in the (aka Butterfish) after the last story but had since removed it. So it was not on the menu when they recently tested it again. That is--it said Sablefish only.

Jordan Marsh's Blueberry Muffins

Yes. We used to get them at the Framingham store bakery at Jordan Marsh at Shopper's World. The bakery was on a mezzanine going down to ground level, I think. I wish i had the recipe for the muffins.

Please critique my itinerary - did LOTS of research - visiting Boston for 5 days and Salem for one of them.

You actually can see the inside of the TD Garden by visiting the Sports Museum. I don't think many people even know it's there. It could be combined with the North End day, or you could visit either going or coming back from Charlestown. Take the harbor shuttle one-way and walk on the return (or do it in reverse).

The Peabody Essex is the best place to go in Salem, but unfortunately it's closed on Mondays.

Foodie planning big birthday party in Boston – help!

I like Via Matta in Park Square and there was a private party in the front room (caffe?) the last time I was there.

January 2012 Openings and Closings

Looks as though Los Amigos on Centre St. in West Roxbury is open. Saw lights there on Monday night and their Facebook page confirms they are up and running.

Restaurant near forest hills for 40 people

There is nothing in the immediate area except for Doyle's which wouldn't meet your "nice food and atmosphere" requirement.

You could take a look at West on Centre in West Roxbury. It has a pleasant function room downstairs. The drawback is that parking is on the street.

Why don't you ask the people in the office at Forest Hills cemetery for suggestions. This must come up all the time. Sorry if I'm assuming incorrectly that the funeral is at the chapel at the cemetery.

Lunch Recommendation near Mass Historical Society (Back Bay)

Not sure what you mean for an "upscale" lunch. Atmosphere? Maybe you want to go to Sonsie on Newbury St., about a 10 minute walk. I would go to Woody's on Hemenway St. for more of a casual comfortable atmosphere. You can get pizza, burgers, and sandwiches. All good.

If you say what type of food you want, it will be easier to advise you. I do like Brasserie Jo but it is a bit out of the way.

Though I haven't ordered sandwiches from the Pavement Cafe, others I know have, and think they're the best in the neighborhood. It's right on Boylston between Hemenway and Mass. Ave. You'll pass it on the way to the MHS. You might get one for the trip home.

Fugakyu closed?

There was a fire in an apartment above Fugakyu in Brookline on Friday night. Doesn't seem as though the fire was extensive but it (or water) may have caused damage to the restaurant.

Native corn

Here's a link to directions for Allendale:

Native corn

Allendale Farm has corn now from Western Mass. On Wednesdays they also have a Jordan Seafood truck in their lot selling fish--they had swordfish, cod, steamers, and oysters from Onset, among other items. That was new to me.

Seven Stars Chinese Bistro has opened on Belgrade Ave. in Roslindale

Went to Seven Stars tonight for take-out. Ordered the fried calamari with sweet chili dip, the hot and sour soup, vegetarian flat noodles, and pork and basil.

The soup was delicious--would be more so in the middle of winter. The fried calamari was crisp and light, not greasy or soggy. Very nice.

My DC liked the noodle dish and the pork was charred in spots yet not overdone. All the food was fresh tasting and solidly good. It's obviously cooked to order and not ladled out of a pot that's been sitting there as with many places where your order is ready within 5 minutes.

This food is much better than any other Chinese food in the greater area (JP, Roslindale, W. Roxbury). It's a keeper for us. And, as already said, the counter person and the owner are charming and friendly. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu.

Need a good sub near Brookline hospitals

The hospital is on Brookline Ave. but is in Boston. There is a Stop & Shop supermarket at Brigham Circle, about at 10 minute walk from BI. They carry Boars Head products and though I haven't been to that store, they probably make sandwiches for take-out.

Roast Beast (Allston)

Just read where Roast Beast is closed temporarily until they can obtain the proper permits.

Coincidence, or something more? Trader Joe's now has onion rings and Alexia doesn't.

We were posting at the same time--I see now that you weren't talking about the onion rings.

Do you mean that TJ's doesn't carry Alexia onion rings anymore? Because I've bought Alexia rings within the past month. Not at TJ's, though. The company still makes them as far as I know.

Anthony Bourdain No Reservations Season 7 in Boston [old]

I know for bar scenes, the movie was filmed in the bar, which is long gone, at the corner of Newbury St. and Mass. Ave., where Best Buy is now. Not sure they filmed at Doyle's but they may have.
