Saigon Grill overrated?

that's incorrect. the strike has been over for at least a month or so. however, I have to agree that SG is not all it's cracked up to be. I've ordered from there for about 7 years and the only things worth ordering are the appetizers. when you venture into the entrees, you're asking for disappointment. I ordered there for the first time since the strike and it was average at best. the veggie spring rolls which used to be excellent are all dough, no veggies.

Popeyes - Grand Opening Chinatown!

as a native new orleanian where popeyes started, I can say that popeyes fried chicken is some of the best around. also, if you can get your hands on some of pop's onion rings, go for it. I think they may have taken them off the menu but I would put their onions rings up there with del friscos!

best thai on the UWS?

I'm in total agreement re: land thai. I think the hype is due to the dearth of thai rests. on the uws. I find land thai okay but not authentic at all. some thai staples like lemongrass shrimp soup just fall way off the mark. I am really intrigued by the land thai love because I just don't see it. I recommend pam real thai on 49th/9th ave and go for it thai style (4/5 stars). to me, that's authentic thai.

Five Guys

I had 5 guys this w/e for the first time. Couple of things: the burger itself is very tasty. slightly charred on the outside, juicy inside. if you like rare burgers, this is not the place for you. my beef with the burger lies in the bun, not the fresh patty. The bun is too big for the single patty (I recommend the double) which is called the little burger. If the bun were toasted, I think it would have been much better. just too much bread! now, the fries are excellent. all in all, much better fries than burger joint but not the burger itself.

Dean's Pizza Square Pie

I have to agree with Fallon. For all the Two Boots hate around here, the Cleopatra Jones slice is one fantastic piece of pizza. I went there out of necessity one day and was very surprised. fresh italian sausage and red peppers.

Need a turkey sandwich like like Bakeman's in Seattle.

I don't know anything about Seattle but I can tell you that the best real turkey sandwich in NYC can be found at The Sandich Shoppe on Greenwich btw 6th/7th. real turkey off the bine and herbal mayo to die for...

Mr K's, NYC

I have eaten there a few times on business and recently picked it up to go. I think it's very overrated. The food is not worth the high prices. It's good but that's about it. Go to Shun Lee for much better Chinese and cheaper.
