coconuts- creative and delicious menu with a great view. love it there!
help- 8:30pm boat show friday, no reservation
will be at eden roc and can't get to dinner until around 8:30. where do we stand a chance of getting 2 seats at a bar nearby thats worth going to?
even willing to go north and try timo or somewhere else, but fear huge waits everywhere

Child-Friendly in MIami for Foodies?
michaels genuine outside for sure, so good and nice place for baby to look around. sardinia outside or in. lincoln road good pizzas at spris or sosta. books and books, shake shack on lincoln road. i would not do pubbelly with my kids, restaurant is small and many tables are high
empanadas- charlotte bakery?
i am just discovering that there are empanadas beyond the over fried greasy type. how does charlottes compare to others on the beach? i've enjoyed buenos aires bakery, but its too far north for us

not in south beach, but closer to the airport with a nice patio on the miami river is garcias. not pretentious and good fresh seafood.

new to nyc- dinner without child tonight
we will be spending the next 5 weeks in new york, can't wait to eat our way through! our 3 year old is great in restaurants, but arrive tonight and have sitter. wish it wasn't a friday night. staying in upper west side. don't mind spending money, though not looking for highest end tonight. thoughts appreciated!
rocca or union tonight?
thanks for response. probably should have gone with union based on your review, but had read many good things recently about rocca. went and was disappointed. waiter was terrible- really, messed up several things, forgot things, generally just couldn't be found. food was good- liked the crispy artichokes and melon burrata salad. raw scallop app, scallop entree and carrot pasta envelopes just ok. couldn't even get our waiters attention for another glass of wine! won't be going back.

Sakaya Kitchen - Midtown Miami
tried sakaya today. pork buns were okay- one was delicious with a wonderful gingery bite while the other was very bland? not sure about that.
but the angus beef lettuce wrap may be my new favorite meal in miami. the beef was so flavorful, perfectly cooked and delicious wrapped in a fresh romaine leaf. served with great homemade pickles, rice slathered in a spicy sriacha type sauce, and a decent kim chee.
i will be back for this again soon!

we will be at the boat show until approx 9pm. are any of the fontainebleau restaurants worth going to? i picture them all to be just ok but $$$
any other recs anywhere down there? i know places will probably be packed, maybe just dinner for 2 at a bar somewhere?

'Picnic' set to replace SeaRock seafood place across from Publix on the Bay cab stand. New owner has said it will be diner style, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and plans to open in February....

la piaggia beach club, miami
just tried la piaggia today and LOVED it! such a pretty spot and really feels like it could be in st maarten or st barts. the food we had ranged from okay to good- nothing absolutely great but totally worth it for the setting.
we went on a monday purposely, i know the weekend s get really crowded. also they are completely kid friendly! nice place to take the baby, have lunch and relax by the pool or on lounge chairs. try it!!!!
South Beach Weekend
i second the smith & wollensky rec. such a beautiful location, especially with the new park just opened! view of government cut and all the boats coming and going is certainly a highlight of south beach!
1 day in miami 3/31/09
nexxt cafe on lincoln road is basically the cheesecake factory, same menu. its right in the heart of lincoln road, so lots of action and people watching. also pizza rustica has slices right across the street from there.
