Perfect. Mission Pie added to my SF Pie list. Thank you. Also just for comparison sake, here were the pies that we grew to love: http://www.hoosiermamapie.com/ci/inde...

Oh- thank you for the link to the previous discussion! Heidi's was thin, underwhelming, one note flavor (just sweet), wimpy crust, and without the right amount of real, fresh ingredients. Whole Foods was the same, but imho, grocery store pies would never reach status to be in the running.

Seeking the best hearty crust that is matched with the best intricate flavor profiles. Missing Chicago and Hoosier Mama's!

Just relocated from Chicago. My definition of the gold standard pie (ANY flavor) is Hoosier Mama's in Chicago. They are dedicated to the traditional art of pie making- pure ingredients, hearty, full crusts, flavorful fillings, and interesting deepened flavors. Sadly, they won't ship (but I actually admire that dedication to preservation of quality, freshness, etc).

Can't find any options here that are remotely close to being a contender and know that Chowhounds won't let me down. Hope suggestions will stay within the city and Peninsula. Thank you!

Schwa closed last night. Anyone know what happened?

We've had reservations for about a month and a half now for last night (Saturday night)- even confirmed a few days ago. We get a call between 3:30p-4p yesterdat from Seth that the "restaurant will be closed this evening." One of our foodie friend's wife had arranged this special surprise dinner at Schwa because that's just about the one place that no one of us has been able to dine at yet. Talk about major disappointment! All they mentioned afterwards is that if we decide to call back again to make another reservation, we should be able to tell them that we had a reservation on a night that they closed down the restaurant.

Anyone have any clue what happened???

BTW- we actually had a fabulous dinner at Balsan instead!

Best restaurants with kids in Montreal?

Hello! This is our first trip to Montreal and looking forward to it. We have about 3 days to take in the sights, sounds, and of course the food of Montreal. We are foodies and will have our 4-year old foodie-in-training in tow. She does quite well in restaurants and is a wonderful eater that is open to any type of food that's put in front of her. So where are the places that we simply can't miss???

Here's what I'm looking for:
- A foodie destination that's really all about the food (and not so much the atmosphere or decor)
- Ideally, a tourist-free, neighborhood gem
- Can be a place where a lot of parents wouldn't bring their kids but the restaurant does welcome little diners
- We are staying in Old Montreal but available to go anywhere that's within Montreal
- Would be wonderful if it's near a must-see sight (museum, historical site, etc.) so we can simply dart there after visiting the near-by attraction
- Would LOVE a sampling of the local cuisine
- Any recos for breakfast, lunch, snacks, or dinner

I can't wait for your recos because I know they'll be killer. Thank you all in advance.

Andersonville delivery

We were in your boat around this time last year, and I do have some delivery suggestions, but I was wondering if you would consider pre-prepared meals? We actually looked into this service where someone makes tons of meals for you, packages them up, and either freezes them or has some ready to be eaten. Actually, quite a number of private chefs offer these kinds of "new parents packages."

A few of our favorites:
- Chen's (on Clark) for Chinese
- Andies
- Caro Mio (on Wilson) for Italian
- Potbellies + Jimmy John's for sandwiches
- Leona's for burgers

Best of luck to you!

HELP- visiting MSP + searching for best anniversary dinner place!

Hello! We're coming into town over Labor Day weekend to visit family, but we're whisking away one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary without the rest of the clan... where should we go???

FYI:
- We LOVE food
- We've eaten all over the US + the World (China, Europe, Australia, etc.)
- We tend to like off-the-beaten-path gourmet finds
- We are afraid of chains
- Love our drinks but really love amazing food
- Could be a great deal or a splurge
- Should be in the metro Minneapolis OR St. Paul areas
- Somewhere someone romantic/interesting- not cheesy

TIA!
