Scallops, prawns, shrimp - how long to keep in refrigerator after thaw?

I just got some frozen scallops, prawns, and shrimp that is good to last about 2-4 servings.

How long can I keep each of these in the refrigerator after thawing? The shrimp are cooked, the prawns and scallops are frozen.

Grass fed beef, sirloin steak, discoloured?

I have some NY sirloin strip steaks with a layer of fat on the top. Some of the fat in this layer is yellowish. Also, on one of the steaks, this layer has a small patch of bluish/purplish type of color like a dye spilled on it.

Is it safe to eat?

Sauteing grass-fed Filet mignon

Sauteing grass-fed Filet mignon

No, I'm trying to saute it. I have only butter and coconut oil (will that work)? This needs to be a 10-minute or less meal, something I can put on the pan, saute for a couple of minutes and eat.

How do I tell if the Filet Mignon is done in terms of minutes under medium heat?

Also, is it safe to thaw Filet Mignon/skirt steak/regular steak overnight (or sometimes 48 hours?) in the refrigerator?

Sauteing grass-fed Filet mignon

I'm planning on sauteing these vegetables (bell peppers, mushrooms, jalapenos, onions) in butter and then adding in grass fed 4oz of Filet mignon.

I'm assuming the vegetables take about a minute or two and then I should add the Filet Mignon....how long should it cook for and under what heat (I always use med-high to cook)? Not sure if I should add all of them at once and start the saute. I prefer well-done.

What about 8oz of skirt steak? and 8oz NY strip steak?

The Price of: Green Bell Peppers

Bell peppers are the highest in pesticides, it's better to grow your own or buy organic. The bell peppers I buy are $2.50-3.99 each but that's okay because it's organic. Most people buy luxury cars and stuff...but they refuse to pay the fair price for organic real food.

Just look at the pesticides and pesticide residues on your bell peppers:
http://www.whatsonmyfood.org/food.jsp...
It's almost 2 pages long! Look at how many of them are known carcinogens, neurotoxins etc.

Where to buy real free range chickens?

Ugh, that's pastured fed but grain finished. Does localharvest.org certify/verify that the farm actually has pastured chickens?

Where to buy real free range chickens?

Where do you buy real free range chickens (that actually live and move around in the pasture as opposed to the FDA definition of free range) and that eats it's natural diet (worms etc) instead of vegetarian/corn feed. Must have online store and fedex shipping. Also, can you be sure about places like this...is there any certifications etc?

Electric Kettle, water heater or?

The Pino kettle STILL has plastic inside. The top section has a plastic block the goes at least an inch into the container. Steam from the water will collect on the plastic block and probably leach.

To Diet or Not to Diet...?

You would have to eat a TON of real food to meet 2000 calorie requirement. You only have to eat a hand full of "processed" food to exceed 2000 calories (bread is processed).

Example meal:
2 grass fed beef sausages
Lot's of organic bell peppers, mushrooms, crispy onions, spinach
Add a bit of ground spices for a kick
All sauteed over a dab of olive oil
Total calories: Under 450, under 12g of saturated fat

A typical restauraunt/fast food meal of this type would be at least 800-1000 calories and contain over 2000mg of sodium and 40g of satured fat. It would be the lowest grade of food full of pesticides and artificial stuff....it's basically, artificial food like substances.

For desert:
1 glass of desert wine/brandy with 3 salmon candy and a couple of slices of blue cheese
Calories: less than 200, less than 5g of sugar.

A typical restauraunt/fast food dessert would contain 500-1000+ calories and over 20+g of sugar.

What hormones, genetic alterations, antibiotics, and false information have you heard about in the food supply?

So you are for:
- wiping out seed banks
- preventing farmers from saving their seeds
- increase cost to farmers by ten fold
- support patents of seeds and ownership so you have to pay royalty fees for any seed you plant
- wipe out all other varieties of a plant and create a monoculture and pray that no disease affects it
- increased world hunger
- increase food prices (once monopoly is established)
- eat even more pesticide (GMO roundup ready corn + roundup next gen corn etc)

This is what the GMO movement is doing.

People have fed themselves just fine for over 2000 years. The population has expanded to exponential magnitudes since then and we did not need GMO foods to do it.

GMO is not the next step up. GMO is a way of "owning" the plants and branding them. Most countries accepting aid simply do not want GMO foods, in fact when we tried to give them GMO corn, they flat out refused it.

GMO plants that survive without huge amounts of pesticide? Are you talking about the GMO corn that produces it's own pesticide?

Many of the tribes in Africa that use maize meal as their primary diet are doing just fine without GMO and they are not starving (except in the few that are under heavy civil wars).

That's the argument the GMO movement likes to use, "to feed millions of starving people" (I can't believe people are dumb enough to believe in this argument). The reality is these people are starving because of civil wars/corruption in their country. In certain African countries, if you build a farm...they will come and burn it down. This is why the people are starving. GMO will not fix this. GMO makes it worse, as is the case of the indian farmers who had to pay ridicolous amounts of royalty fees which many could not afford and ended up killing themselves.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/world...

At the moment, GMO seeds are setup to compete with Nature's variety competively. However, as soon as the Nature's variety is wiped out (survival of the fittest), the GM companies will have a monopolic hold on the seed and will drive prices extremely high. This will create even more millions of people that will starve.

Vegetarians and Weight Gain?

Anything more than 2oz is a lot actually (plus I eat salmon everyday). I mash up the fillet (sashimi grade) after slightly searing it and incorporate it into the mixture. The bell peppers take the role of the "grains" so I can cut them into long strips.

I'm fine with 1500 calories. I think people eat too much, the RDA guidelines should be reduced by at least 500 calories.

Vegetarians and Weight Gain?

I have an incredible difficult time in trying to get 1500 calories or more in a pescetarian diet. If you eat real food, it will fill you up fast and you will lose/maintain weight.

My sample diet: 2oz salmon fillet, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, spinach, tomatos all lightly sauteed with a small amount of olive oil. It's under 350 calories. I get about maybe 20grams of protein a day and I run, those high protein low carb diets are a joke. Protein shakes are also a joke.

Commercial bread is too processed...150 calories for a slice? No thanks. Bread should be yeast, flour, water, salt...which is like what...40-60 calories per slice?

"The classical understanding of why a GM crop might create new allergies is that the imported genes produce a new protein, which has never before been present. The novel protein may trigger reactions. This was demonstrated in the mid 1990s when soybeans were outfitted with a gene from the Brazil nut. While the scientists had attempted to produce a healthier soybean, they ended up with a potentially deadly one. Blood tests from people who were allergic to Brazil nuts showed reactions to the beans.[7] It was fortunately never put on the market."

I stopped eating all supermarket meats. Chickens are supposed to eat worms, not corn.
The corn feed are the lowest quality (according to one farmer) and are all GMO.

Some maybe allergic to fish and have a allergic reaction. This happened to a woman who had a severe allergic reaction to GMO corn because they had genes from a fish I think.

Still have no idea why we need to GM food.

I think it's a corporate thing where if you GM food, you own it. Because GM food defy the "survival of the fittest" equation, they essentially wipe out Nature's variety. This way, the farmers can use only 1 variety, the gmo variety, and pay tons of license fees to the GM company. This is what's currently happening with corn. Farmers who didn't even plant GM corn are getting sued due to cross pollination.

Fiber in cereal bars...

How come the masai tribe does not eat fiber and they are doing just fine (even better than us)? I think we have narrowed down certain food components, fiber in this case, for marketing reasons.

If you want fiber, go eat some fruits.

Why not thaw and freeze again?

I have frozen salmon (flash frozen) that I thaw overnight. Because I only eat 3oz potions, there is at least 1-2 potions left that I just keep in refrigerator for 24-48 hours. Each fillet is 6oz so I would have to thaw it fully to make 3oz portions.

Why can't I freeze it again after thawing?

Can I eat Smoked Salmon Candy after thawing?

Yep, it is strips of smoked salmon. Not as firm as jerky. I just need for it to stay for a couple of days in the refrigerator without spoiling.

Since it says that it has gone through a "salt-mediated" curing process, I guess I can store it in the refrigerator for couple of days.
