1st Wedding Anniversary - Dinner in OC

I'm open to suggestions. Our anniversary falls in the middle of the week otherwise I'd try for a dinner in LA. But anywhere Newport, Laguna, CM works...

Just looking for something memorable and special in the end.

Can you help: Stonehill or Andrea in OC?

I am trying to decide between these two for our 6 month anniversary...any feedback would be great. I have not included Montage as she doesn't like French...I wanted to make sure it was some place that she could wear a dress.

Is Spago still as good as ever?

i was there 2 weeks ago. ordered a la carte. had the grouper and short beef ribs. was exceptionally underwhelmed. service was certainly not as good as many other places i've been to. i'd try almost any place else.

i asked the same question...take the boards advice and try some place that's hungry to get to a 2 star michelin level...

now maybe Cut is a better choice if you want to go Puck...

Spago or Sona or Ramsey's WeHo

Ok, i thought about Patina but read some reviews and decided against it. if sona, which is better the 6:15 or 8:30 seating? so i am splitting heirs between spago and sona really. the reviews are both brilliant, maybe i just flip a coin. unless someone makes a compelling case for Ramsay's WeHo.

Spago or Sona or Ramsey's WeHo

Thanks Kevin. I believe I have read it. And i think i was attracted to the fact that she knows who Ramsay is. Otherwise, it is down to Spago and Sona. We don't drink wine, so that makes the costs very similar. So my gut feeling is Spago because i've heard it so much. but i hear Sona is supposed to be exceptional. so i am stuck.

I have narrowed the choices down to the three for my anniversary dinner/surprise. Debating tasting menu vs a la cart. She is picky so she more than likely would want to pick a la cart rather than tasting menu. so thoughts for the best meal between the 3 and some wow factor as well?

Need a place either in LA or OC for wedding anniversary: knock your socks off type

I have been researching and Ortolan seems really nice as well. I guess I need to pair it down. Our normal (slightly special) occasion place is Ti Amo in Laguna. Nice and romantic. So I am hoping for the next level.

Hmm...budget may not be as important as i thought.

She was very wowed by Stonehill last year...so I have to top myself ;)

The prices for providence are in line with what my comfort zone would be for this dinner.

I/we have not been to the Napa Rose, but I will consider as it's already in the OC.

Need a place either in LA or OC for wedding anniversary: knock your socks off type

Hi all,

For our wedding anniversary last year, we went to Stone Hill Tavern and her birthday Marche Moderne. It was really nice. I am hoping to top myself this year. We don't drink wine so that's not important, but I would love to know ball park totals for 2 (app, main, dessert w/o wine). So I need some suggestions. I know she'll want to get all dressed up so something upscale is the goal with a nice WOW factor. I am almost resigned to going to LA as I can't come up with a topper in OC. As our anni falls on a weekend this year, I am up to an LA excursion from OC (if its worth is):

Some of my initial thoughts:

Spago
Californian
Sapphire
Osteria Mozza
London WeHo
Sona
Valentino
Joe's
Providence
Melisse (may break the budget)

I'll take any others...

Down to: Stonehill Tavern or Pinot Provence

welll last year we went to Ti Amo for our anniversary and it was good/ok...i think it ran us nearly $80-90. so if Stonehill is that much better choice for $100 for two, then that makes good sense.

not to sound ignorant, but Stonehill isn't the type of place that serves you a 2oz entree and hopes you are full when you leave?

well...hmmm...we aren't wine drinkers so that probably helps. what's the average tab for two at both places. i was looking t both and Stonehill is listed as less expensive than Pinot...this was at OpenTable.

This is for my wedding anniversary. I am torn...analysis paralysis...so any votes one way or another would be great.

Wedding anniversary dinner in Orange County?

Thanks kdoc. I am open to better ideas. But it seems that Stonehill Tavern is in the lead for me personally.

Wedding anniversary dinner in Orange County?

Hi all,

I love this board, but never have posted...so here goes the first one:

I am looking at a few options for an anniversary dinner (2nd one). She really wanted to get married at a fancy hotel and we looked at the St. Regis and HB Hyatt and they were just too expenive. But maybe a good option for a dinner. My choices so far are:

- Stonehill Tavern
- The Californian
- Napa Rose

I look forward to any advice between my choices...want a romantic and home run evening. thanks.
