Indian food - Southern Connecticut Shoreline.....

Looking for a good Indian restaurant drivable from the Milford area (30 minutes either direction). I've been to an Indian buffet in Stamford before that I LOVED and a buffet would be nice since it allows us to sample many new tastes. Do any places offer a buffet option at dinner?
Thanks!

New BBQ/Tex-Mex in Milford, CT

Joey C's BBQ in the Devon section of Milford. Wow, I was surprised to see such lukewarm reviews of this place. I went for the first time on Saturday and was very impressed with our food. My husband ordered the grand burrito - they literally brought the thing out on a tray - it was filled with nice beef, pork and chicken. He could barely eat 1/2 of it and we had the rest for dinner that night. I had the Road House tacos which were very good and had the most delicious fresh green salsa on top. We like it so much that we went back Sunday night with my sister and her husband. BYOB was not a problem and we tried four other items on the menu - everyone went away happy and full!!! We will definitely do again. The people could not have been nicer, the place was as clean as could be and the food was an incredible deal for the price. I'm a fan!

Another update - stopped into Scratch Baking for my weekly bread fix fix and found that they made homemade soup - had a cup of lemon/lentil - incredible!

Cheese Shops in Connecticut

Wow - This post sure has stood the test of time. I live half way in between but have always gone to Frommage in Old Saybrook or Darien Cheese Shop - both have so many cheeses and are very informative but that's a lot of driving for cheese. I was delighted when we got our own little shop in Milford a few years back. The Villa Gourmet on River St. Not a huge selection but very helpful and great cheeses and she (Linda the owner) ahs made up some lovely platters for me for parties when I take in a special dish - she makes it look really nice - labelled and laid out nicely. Give them a try.

Gotchef- gourmet food truck

I haven't tired it yet but certainly will. I live and work in downtown and have to admit I have mixed emotions about it. Not about the food which from all reports is excellent but just hoping that the City gets some a good income from them being there. If I were a downtown restaurant owner/taxpayer and all of a sudden found myself in competition with an out-of-town business I think I'd be pretty curious as to what the deal with the City or the Transit Authority was. Again,I may be speaking from ignorance but just curious.........

GE Cafe Gas Range - a review!

We bought a Cafe dual fuel (gas stove and electric on both ovens) about 3 months ago. I've only ever cooked with gas so I was unconvinced that I'd like the electric oven. I LOVE IT! Cakes, cookies and bread come out much better. Never used convection oven before but so far I'm sold!! Guess it's true that electric ovens have more even heat. I have "baked" in lower oven but it was only a casserole and not something finicky like cookies. It did a perfect job on a dish that needed 350 degrees for an hour. Much easier to keep the top clean than enamel.

Bistro Basque - Milford, CT review (long)

Had dinner there with the girls the other night - wonderful! The service was attentive but not overbearing, the food inventive and delicious, portions were ample. Nice wine choices. Cool downtown location, the owner stopped by our table and chatted with us and sent us a complimentary drink after dinner. I love it and will go back again and would recommend highly.

Hi all,
I'm from New England but will be on the Oregon coast next week - any good tips on where to get good food? Not looking for anything particularly fancy, mostly just good comfort food. Yachats? Florence?
Thanks for any help.

Scratch Baking, Milford, CT

I've been in Scratch Baking three times so far. Her whole grain bread, pastries and quiches are delicious. The shop smells wonderful and the service was friendly. I thought the prices were totally reasonable. It's great to have a bakery downtown again!
