Hmmm I detect an agenda of overt segregation from you. I am not amused.

How do you take your coffee?

I broke the carafe to my automatic drip coffee maker so I was forced to learn how to use the cute french press I had received as a gift. I grind my beans and french press the coffee. I prefer cream and sugar. One cup only to start my day.The preparation ritual is as important to me as the coffee consumption itself because I LOVE the fragrance of the dark french roast beans I buy.I think they intoxicate me a bit:)Truth be told though I will drink coffee any way....black.....creamed.....etc.

How many dinner sides do you usually prepare?

I live alone and have downsized to cooking for one but if I am serving a meat dish such as a pork chop then I will serve a baked potato rice or wild rice and either a veg or a salad.....no bread dessert etc. Small portions and usually fresh fruit a bit after dinner. When I cooked for my family I always made too much food.I prefer my simplified cooking style now. I live in California and I cook seasonally.Winter is hearty stews...casseroles....spring summer is huge salads....grilled veggie kabobs.....roasted beets...corn...asparagus...potatoes...lots of fruit.

Photos in restaurants- what's the big deal?

When I was a bit younger and cooking all of the time for my family and for gatherings...house parties....holiday meals etc. I did really believe that all aspects of food and cooking were an art form for myself and certain other people. However I was never grandiose enough to believe that people would really want to look at food photos of my creations:) I wanted my *art* to bring real world satisfaction and pleasure to the viewer and consumer of it.My late husband was a food fanatic...he was a hunter.....fisherman...gatherer...gardener....barterer..a stunningly creative home chef (who should have been a professional) a well informed imbiber of all spirits.....wines.....etc. He on the other hand would stand on chairs anyplace anytime regardless of who was attending the party to get the perfect *food photo* for his albums:) He however was NOT allowed to do it in restaurants if I were with him. He knew I would create a scene and mortify him so he kept it real when I was there:)

I am certain you will correct me if I am wrong but isn't medicinal marijuana possession considered a federal offense? Regardless of the script written by a physician and the diagnosis to support the script? All of the dispensaries here in the N. California county I reside in have more or less closed voluntarily to avoid federal prosecution.( That ain't stopping nobody!!!!!!). I am an RN by profession so my stance is 100% supportive for the use of medical marijuana. Recipes on Chowhound? Not so much. There are more effective ways of delivery into the system than ingesting P.O. (by mouth).

Crazy to open a restaurant just so you can go to it?

The thing about Donald Trump is that he is a wizard about business. He is like an old school *wheeler and dealer* with superhuman instincts. He takes risks but they are well researched calculated risks.Nothing he does is impulsive or based on an emotional need.In other words he is in it to win.I am also certain that he actively listens to the financial advice given to him by his on staff experts regarding investment potential.Maybe he won't be at "Tavern on the Green" slinging hash anytime soon but you can bank on the fact he is aware that his notoriety and celebrity will be a draw for customers because of who he is and he will no doubt show his face there now and then.

I might be incorrect but medicinal marijuana possession is still considered an illegal federal offense. If that is the case then CH might be wise in censoring a *cooking with medical marijuana* thread.....pandering to illicit activities is a liability for them:)

It is probably not the highest quality of saffron but my son buys his@World Market (Cost Plus) I usually purchase all of my spices and dried herbs there also. The saffron is from India packaged in a tiny little tin for under $3.00 for a few threads that you might be able to use for a few months.

My adult nephew taught my daughter and I how to *doctor* up the packaged Hidden Valley Ranch dressing very similar to your version but he adds about 3 large raw garlic gloves turned into a paste. Extremely delicious. Your dessert is going to be something to feast your eyes on:) Enjoy:)

Photos in restaurants- what's the big deal?

I have dined all over California ( and other places of course). I have to say that I have never encountered a single diner taking pics. I have encountered it at large family blow outs......family weddings.....pot lucks....food stands @ Great America....food stands at the Asparagus Festival etc. but never inside of a restaurant. Weird isn't it?

I had leftovers from last evening's pork chop dinner.I had dry brined the chops and then pan fried. The pork was still juicy and tender after I microwaved it for a few seconds. Then my daughter (here from New Zealand.)prepared a pot of rice to go with her scavenged from the freezer butter chicken she prepared when she first landed on U S soil back in early March so I made myself some fattening comfort food.....white rice with butter...sugar...cinnamon and warm whole milk poured over it. My daughter is leaving on Weds. to return home to her new husband and family in Christchurch NZ. and so I have been trying to drown my sorrows with food. Good enough excuse to feed my face I guess? I do have my *ZUNI* chicken resting on the bottom shelf of the fridge.I am excited about preparing it tomorrow evening because every report I have seen here on CH regarding ZUNI chicken prepared by home cooks has been positive.

I am not a businesswoman but the ticket requirement is smart business. More popular food venues should start doing this.

As far as *not* allowing certain subjects that sounds a bit too authoritarian and punitive.

Yes I advocate the private dining venue for you so you can avoid conflict with young people having fun. I am sure they noticed the icy glares...sighs and overall indignation emanating from you or did you try to politely conceal your annoyance:) ?
