Wolf range-- griddle, grill, or none of the above?
We have a Wolf 48" with 4 burners and they are more than enough for a single famly home, IMHO 6 burners is way overkill unless you are feeding an army. We have the griddle and grill and use them both, the grill especially when dark or cold out - they are both great.
To anchovy or NOT to
Yes anchovies on pizza is a must for me, there was a place on pico blvd. in West Los Angeles named "Zitos" that disappeared in the 1960's that served them in an antapasto salad(spelling?) they also chopped them up and put them in the spagetti sauce, never would know they were in there but what a great sauce.
In N Out Burger question for a newbie
I agree with Ricepad, The double double is the perfect ballance, a single burger is overwhelmed by the other ingredients .
In N Out Burger question for a newbie
Yes INO is the best fast food hamburger around no contest, get the double double animal style.
Your disappointing purchases from Costco
My experience is that if you look carefully at lets say choice rib eyes you can find choice almost as marbled as prime at a much lower price.
Are Sub Zero refrigerators worth the price?
Dont know if the're worth it but we just priced a SZ 48" glass front doors at pacific sales and it was about $15,000.
Which Two Cuisines for the Rest of your Life?
Mexican and Italian.
I have often wondered what kind of meat(assuming meat eaters) would pick it you had to spend the rest of your life on an island and you could only pick one type of meat: Beef, Chicken, Fish, or Pork, I would pick Chicken because it can be prepared so many different ways.
"Poor Man's" $1 Big Mac -- save $$$ at Mickey D's
I recently ordered some big macs and asked them to put some extra sauce on them and they charged me 30 cents extra apice. This was just a little extra sauce, what a rip off.
Looking for a late lunch spot in Malibu
Bob Morris' Beach Cafe is interesting and right on the sand, really great beach and you can sit outside with table and umbrella in the sand. Inside you will see a lot of pictures of the stars that have frequented it. Somewhat a little more expensive than normal but very entertaining. They used to film the "Rockford Files" there with James Garner.
Yes malibu seafood has great fish and chips, it is further south and on the land side.
Electric smoker
I had ordered one through hammechler schllmer , I cant remember the spelling, it worked once and went south, I sent it back and didn't take a chance on another but I think the idea has merit. The amount you could put in was small, like 2 pounds.
What does 1.75 liter bottle of Markers Mark cost in your City/State
I just bought my 1.75L for about $29 at costco, oxnard CA
Bristol Farms Prices??
I was in BF the other day and saw a certain brand of French Roqufort at $25.99/lb . the exact same brand was $9.99/lb at Trader joes, this was just one of many pricing examples - please explain to me how anyone could be Daft enough to shop there???
Diners, Drive-ins, Dives, and Disgusting
I agree with ttoommyy, i've seen them do this many times, "they" are not the only ones that do this, the "cheaters" show also does it.
Best Fries on Westside?
Havn't been in years but the best fries i've had was at the Apple Pan.
Electric smoker
I have a Cookshack Americue and love it , Ive had it for a number of years and it only takes a little wood 3 to 5 oz to smoke. Some people might not mind getting up 3 times in the middle of the night to add wood to a wood smoker for something like a packer cut brisket that can take 24 hours to smoke but not me. This smoker will make brisket, pulled pork, etc like you were a master smoker, ive even made cold smoked lox , far better than store bought lox. Yes it is expensive but there is a saying, " Long after you've forgotton the price you paid you'll remember the quality"
What food find still haunts you - that you had once and haven't found since?
Nancy, I found out one really great "secret" to good spagetti sauce..finely chop up a can of anchovies and add to sauce, nobody will even suspect they are there - and of course red wine.
Where can I get a HUGE burrito for $6 or less?
El Tepeyac's are huge but a good sized and the best tasting burrito I've ever had is from Tito's Tacos in Culver Shitty, the beef and cheese. about $5.15
Buttermilk Party--Help!
Buttermilk is great for drinking especially ice cold, unfortunately most people were not raIsed drinking it so most dont like it, if you have some cottage cheese that is kind of dry add some buttermilk you wont even know its there and it improves it greatly.
California for two weeks - SF, Napa, Yosemite, and Highway One
I must totally disagree with Susan, If you like cheeseburgers try an In N Out double double animal style, very tasty, double meat double cheese with extra sauce, pickles, grilled onions, etc. most reviews on In N Out in chowhounds are 90% positive.
In-N-Out Burger sucks (moved from L.A. board)
Serv is right on, it is a very tasty burger especially if you order a double double "Animal Style" nothing average about this burger.
Is it smoked or barbecue meat ?
Anybody can do anything, cut a slice of brisket put it in a hot frying pan and within a minute it will be "done" I guaranteen Itll be tough, if you want to learn about true barbeque go to cookshack.com forums.
Is it smoked or barbecue meat ?
Ginger is absolutely correct, BBQ is low and slow, Grilling is hot and fast on what many including me incorrectly call a BBQ it is actually a Grill.
Best advice for a novice smoker?
Cookshack.com has some really good forums on brisket, pulled pork, etc. If you want tender brisket it depends on whether you get a flat cut(typical supermarket cut with not much fat) say 5 to 9 lbs or a packer cut say 17 lbs, when I do these in my Cookshack Amerique I cook at 225f for an internal temp of 195f it takes close to 24 hours, it needs to be cooked low and slow to break down the collagin. You really need to get a good remote meat thermometer.
Who here really prefers the Double Filet-O-Fish over the regular Filet-O-Fish?
Yes IPS they are kinda dry, trouble is with McDees I ask for extra pickles or sauce on something and I get nothing at all, they just dont understand english so I now dont ask for fear I wont get anything. The FOF is overpriced IMHO unless you get 2 for price of one. I saw the regular price of a big mac the other day $4.09 - absurd.
