Supertaster Daily: 5 Soft-Baked Cookies Reviewed in 3 minutes

Dear SuperTaster,

This review of Candy Corn Oreos: http://goo.gl/myaFb was not up to your standard. Having seen it, I realize how badly I need a professional review of a seasonal treat that could be my dream come true. What do you think?

Going to Mardi Gras with dietary restrictions, am I screwed?

Try a fried green tomato po-boy. They're available at a couple of places, including Mahoney's on Magazine St., www.mahoneyspoboys.com.

You can ask for a muffaletta sandwich without meat. (They traditionally have ham, salami, capicola, and pepperoni, so plenty of pork there!) You could have one with just cheese and the delicious olive salad.

Of course, there's always dessert. Bread pudding with rum sauce and bananas foster are New Orleans classics.

Uptownlibrarian's right - many dishes, including green beans or greens - will be cooked with pork, so if you're not sure, just ask.

Have a fabulous visit!

Vegetarian-ish grub for road trip through Allentown/Bethelehem

Hi folks!

I'm moving from New Orleans to New York and will be passing through the Lehigh Valley on 78. I'm looking for some recommendations for a good local restaurant that's within 10 or so minutes of the highway. My friend and I are "flex"atarians - we can usually find something we like on your typical restaurant menu, but a BBQ place probably wouldn't have a lot of options for us. I'd like to pay $10-12 for my meal. We'll be driving through on a Sunday or Monday. Any suggestions?

Thanks oodles!
