Yes. Two different trucks every other day on my street in East San Diego County. When I was in South San Diego County in March/April, saw trucks as well as the walking push carts with bells ringing on those side streets. Mostly Mexican ice cream novelties, some Blue Bell brand also. No Good Humor. (side story...I grew up three blocks from the Good Humor plant in Detroit and the trucks would drive down the alley on their way back to the plant, selling damaged items from the truck.) |

Costco Hot Dog Combo switching to Pepsi I'm diabetic and don't like artificial sweeteners, so only have unsweetened tea or soda water. If it's sweetened, I can't have it. Then I might complain here and at the store. |

Costco Hot Dog Combo switching to Pepsi In the soda machines. Nestea unsweetened- Coca Cola product. Haven't gone to the food court in a while, but assume it will be Lipton-Pepsico product. |

Costco Hot Dog Combo switching to Pepsi I recall numerous similar statements here when Costco switched to the Kirkland brand hot dogs and Kirkland Polish dogs, in 2009. Within those posts were the repetitive 'it was so bad, I vomited it up/threw it away after the first bite' statements. If they lose customers over $1.50 product, so be it. They'll go back if it affects their bottom line. |

Enough with the 'green juice'!!! Not surrounded by born again juicers, but am diabetic and know that an all fruit juice beverage is equal to 5+ pieces of fruit and would kill me. Tried a spinach/cucumber with some apple juice concoction and it was pleasant and my glucose did not rise 2 hours after. Now know that there is something I can have if I go to a juice place. |

Best non-chain American style steakhouse? True. I do think of it as 'American Style', which is a place the family can go out for a steak dinner. Restaurants with tablecloths, cloth napkins, leather seating, mood lighting, taking reservations and serving prime cuts of meat are, *to me*, 'European Style'. |

Best non-chain American style steakhouse? Yes- "Buttons and Bows" as the side dish- beans and white bread is what I consider an 'American style' side dish, as is the 'plain lettuce'/iceberg salad. The plastic salad bowls, plastic tablecloths, aligned picnic tables, cut off ties stapled to the walls and ceiling as decor are not at all conducive to what some people consider a 'steakhouse' atmosphere. You'd think it would be out of business, but the line was out the door yesterday at 6 p.m.. I come from a time when everything was not so homogenized. People enjoy foods which are familiar and comfortable. Probably because they were raised in different cultures, parts of the US and/or world and have different viewpoints and expectations. I was answering Ipse's question with my personal recommendation. |

San Diego New Places Opening Thread Numero Tres. The AYCE Korean BBQ along the side of the building is already open. Saw this blog post about it: http://kirbiecravings.com/2013/05/taegukgi-korean-bbq-house.html (There is no website that I can find )The Paris Baguette website http://www.ParisBaguetteUSA.com/Paris... lists that a location will be inside Zion. I would think since the building used to be a Kmart/Sears, and the old Zion is not at all that large, that there will be many eat in/food court type franchises like the HMarts in LA have.(DeliManjoo, Tous les Jours, etc). This would also explain the more than one year renovations taking place inside the building. |

Trader Joe's Yay/Nay Thread - May 2013 2 weeks ago I picked up the Maranatha almond butter at my Costco because it is in glass jars again (I posted it on the Costco thread as a response to you). |

The South West corner of the 54, at 4th(Highland). Same parking lot area as the Walmart, but more East (closer to the McDonald's). I hadn't heard-Spring Valley will be closer for me (live in Santee), but know the inventory is different at each one, so will probably stop in whichever one I am closer to at the time I go shopping. I saw those posts for the SF Bay area. Maybe once there are more locations here, there will be steady inventories. So far this year, I've seen the inventory and layout completely change from after Christmas to Valentine's Day to Easter to now. Things completely sell out rapidly. |

The food items are often labeled as 'not meeting quality standards for appearance' or the cooking instructions or nutrition statements have a corrected copy stuck over the original one printed on the box. Years ago, Special K boxes with Kristi Yamaguchi on the front were sold for months. Once, they were selling frozen Pepperidge Farm garlic bread for 50¢ and all the packaging was upside down, so you let the package get warm before opening it then pulled the bread out, the garlic butter was stuck to the bottom (opposed to the top) of the box You can only count on there being some variation of milk, cheese, eggs and bread and probably cold cuts as well as some sort of fresh vegetable available, everything else comes and goes. Sometimes lots and lots of ice cream novelty products, sometimes none; sometimes Stouffers products fill half of the freezer sections, then for months, none. In that sense, it's like Big Lots. There's been a location in National City, (which was first in Chula Vista), for more than 20 years now. There was another location I went to in Oceanside a few times about ten years ago. San Diego County is 4200 square miles large and it's nice that the Grocery Outlet chain is expanding within the county. |

Please don't hate me but I need opinions on Lucky Charms knock-offs "But if I eat too much of it"... You need to try just a small/normal portion to see if you still have the same side effects. If yes, then you need to determine the offending ingredient. If no, then you need to limit your portion size rather than change brands. |

Best non-chain American style steakhouse? Since there are no other locations, it doesn't meet the definition of 'chain'. (I edited my answer above while you were replying to it. You may want to read the last paragraph). |

Best non-chain American style steakhouse? Years ago, after finishing a dinner at King's Fish House, The Mister and I were asked if we would like to dine at L&M on a certain date and time. Ostensibly it was a test of their kitchen and waitstaff before opening. When we showed up, an envelope with an appetizer and one main were what we were required to order. We could then order any other main and dessert as well as two nonalcoholic beverages. It was all free (and so we left $30). Look at the "info" link on the website. The email address to contact is @Kingsseafood.co. To answer Ispe, I think Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse (Santee) is 'American style'; the simple atmosphere, sides and basic menu is how I had steak dinners in the Midwest. |

List of Low Calorie products at Costco The spinach chickpea patties are in the refrigerated section, in front of the rotisserie chickens/open case meats. I sometimes eat them as a side dish at breakfast or dinner, as well as a snack item. |

Burlap Del Mar--Not Open, At Least Today Green Acre, www.GreenAcreSD.com, is a Malarkey venture. Fresh- garden in the courtyard, organic, limited hours (8 a.m. Breakfast and lunch and take home until 6 p.m.), quality food. Not a see and be seen place, it's in the middle of the Life Science campus. The concept seems to be more successful without the name recognition factor. |
