Coop's Place

Haven't seen this place recommended on here for a couple of years, but just wanted to let you guys know that whatever good things were going for this place in the past are gone.

We walked in on a Friday night and were seated at the bar area and were served by an extremely rude waiter who never looked at us once. He would come over to ask what we wanted while staring in all other directions. We ordered the blackened redfish and the jambalaya supreme. The redfish was totally overcooked and burnt while the jambalaya was cold. Instead of complaining to a server who was clearly not customer-service oriented we decided to just eat it and get on our way.

So I just wanted to let you guys no about the sheer disappoint we found at Coop's place, maybe it was an off night for them but I would definitely avoid them!

Seafood Options

That's the vibe I get of GW Fin's in general just from looking at their menu and website. I'm from Orlando, FL (the land of chain restaurants) and it looks like something that would be considered spectacular there, but seems rather uninspired for New Orleans.

We're probably between Sac-A-Lait and Peche. I'm a HUGE fan of blackened redfish which Sac-A-Lait offers but Peche also looks like a seafood lover's paradise.

Seafood Options

Hey guys, been to NOLA several times, but this time bringing my dad along who is a huge seafood fan. He's funding the trip so looking for something moderately priced with entrees around the $25 range.

I was thinking maybe GW Fins or giving Sac-A-Lait a try? I personally love the New Orleans standards of blackened redfish and BBQ shrimp and the like, so I was leaning towards Sac-A-Lait which looks like the menu has a little bit more of the cajun/creole influence. Just wondering if there are any other places I'm overlooking. We're a big fan of hole in the wall/out of the way kind of places although we don't have a car. So if there is some kind of sketchy seafood shack down a dark alley somewhere that anyone knows of, we're down for that too!

Traditional Creole-Recs

Been to NO many times but have never had that traditional creole experience. Would like something romantic and traditional. Tried to make a res at Commanders Palace but they are fully booked due to an xmas party (I'm devastated). Any recommendations for something similar in food and service?

A #19 for breakfast at Langer's on game day is definitely happening, I can assure you of that!

I will look in to Men Oh!

I found someone who lives right near the rose bowl and bought parking in their front yard. They're in a residential area on Seco Street and gave me their resident passes to get through barricades. So we're gonna go that route!

Langer's is definitely on my list. I'm in LA from midnight on the 4th until 8am on the 7th so my time is limited. The 6th will be fully taken up by the football game in Pasadena, so the 5th is really my only day to get out and experience LA.

I'm coming in from Tallahassee, FL but I've traveled a lot and have had some great dining experiences... heard great things about LA restaurants so am very excited!

love the look of this place, seems like you can go all out and spend a ton or still have a nice meal and spend more like $20/$30

Visiting LA for the first time and looking for a dinner recommendation. Love steak, sushi, seafood, any kind of food really, just looking for a world-class meal experience. Packing light so will have jeans and button down shirts, so preferably someplace without a formal dress code. Thank you!

A true taste of new orleans on a budget

Hey guys, my buddy and I are both 20 years old and taking a trip over to NOLA on Spring Break. Obviously we're not old enough to drink yet but we'd like to get a real taste of New Orleans from a local's point of view.

We're not your typical party-animal college students, just looking for a nice getaway for a few days explore the city, hear some live music and have a good time.

We'll be there for 3 days so we need some restaurant ideas if anyone can suggest any. We're obviously on a very tight budget so spending $20 on a dinner is basically at the VERY high end of our budget.

Thanks!!

tourist needs help...

Sorry for not being very specific. Looking for inexpensive, quick places where I can just go and get a taste of the city. After posting I realized central grocery would be closed on Sunday. But things along those lines, would like to go and grab a quick poboy, hopefully a muffuletta somewhere, planning on hitting up Cafe Du Monde when I get in to NOLA in the morning. More things along those lines. I'm going with my dad so we're planning on going as many places we can and just sharing everything so we can try alot of different foods.

tourist needs help...

Hey guys, I've got business to do in Hattiesburg, MS on a Monday so figured I'd combine business with pleasure and come in to New Orleans Sunday morning to spend Sunday and a little bit of Monday in the city. Basically, I just wanted to get some places that I HAVE to go to to get a taste of New Orleans. I'm staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in the French Quarter and am going to the Saints game at 3 that afternoon. I planned on hitting up Cafe Du Monde for some famous beignets, and maybe Central Grocery before the game?

If anyone could just point me in the right direction to the best local places to get a quick taste of New Orleans while I'm there I'd really appreciate it alot.

PS- I'm from Orlando so I'm not really into the touristy crap haha
