Milwaukee on Expenses
Lake Park Bistro or any of the Bartolotta run restaurants are fantastic. Lake Park Bistro has wonderful French cuisine in a beautiful setting - an historic county park building beautifully rehabbed.

Wisconsin Folk: what are your favorite places to buy Brats?
I would also heartily recommend Meisfelds for a great brat that is made in-house. They also have an incredible and very reasonably priced meat market.
Wisconsin Breakfast?
About 25 miles or so from Fond du Lac is Elkhart Lake - I would recommend a great breakfast on Sundays from Siebken's Resort. White tablecloth, nicer breakfast with a great menu and a neat, turn of the century dining room with lots of antiques and old racing memorabilia. It is only open seasonally, however, and I think Labor Day is their last weekend open. They have great blueberry-poppyseed pancakes, a great crab cakes benedict or veggie benedict (made with spinach and tomato, IIRC), and also a great breakfast burrito.
For more of a diner/truck-stop experience, both the All Seasons Restaurant in Elkhart Lake, and the Wilderness Roadside Inn, in Plymouth, have good solid breakfasts. Wilderness has good breakfast skillets, which are VERY large and hearty.
