Looking for good, moderately priced restaurants in hell's kitchen, NOT THAI

Thanx! I also like yuppie nonethnic fusion food. Or salads, things like that. Healthy. However I appreciate all of these wonderful suggestions, and appreciate your commiseration about mediocre thai. A shanda!

Dinner near Wellington Hotel (57th and 7)

Three places (I'm new to NY myself): Marseille is French, great (45th I think and 9th)
Hell's Kitchen is excellent (47th and 9th)
Taboon I've heard good things about (52nd and 10th)
Avra (Greek, but farther from your hotel) http://www.avrany.com/-great fish, that's their specialty

Looking for good, moderately priced restaurants in hell's kitchen, NOT THAI

Hi gang,

I just moved to NY. Yes yes I'm in hell's kitchen, but the restaurants are either pretty pricey (Marseille, Hell's kitchen, etc...) or all Thai. Generally I can't eat Thai food as I"m allergic to peanuts. Please, suggestions? I like pretty much anything, but don't eat tons of mexican food, maybe once in a while. i've tried a few places that have been subpar, despite the area's reputation. Thanks for any and all suggestions!
