What's for Dinner #326 - The Fall Pursuits Edition

Thanks! I'm sure it's just a short bug. And I'm getting a head start on that 5-10 I wanted to drop :/

I agree. I find the only thing worth my $ at CFA to be the lemonade. But, everyone has their likes :)

What's for Dinner #326 - The Fall Pursuits Edition

Turns out my first fall pursuit was catching a tummy bug that had been going around :( Ugh. Dinner for me? Egg noodles with a little butter and Five Guys for pap.

Tasty stuff in Hua Hin?

I did a search already and most results for Hua Hin are older and things in Thailand change pretty rapidly. I'll be doing a 4 week trip to Thailand starting in December that will include a week in Hua Hin. I've spent plenty of time in the LOS in the past, mostly on Phuket, so I'm very familiar with Thai food. But I've never been to Hua Hin. Looking for any and all recs for good food, from street carts all the way up to pricey.
Thanks for an recs or tips!

The Chew---a few years later.

Thanks for your responses. Good to know that they actually have improved and I'm not just accepting brain dead mediocrity. I actually picked up a Chew cookbook for 5.99 from a B&N bargain table a couple of days ago, I need to have a look through and see what I think of that :)

My fall project is to get out outside more! Starting tomorrow with a bbq with friends. I have no idea what I'm making yet--yikes! Busy couple of days tutoring the school kiddies, so not much action in the kitchen. Last night we went to California Pizza Kitchen. I usually avoid this place, but I can't deny that they do a bang up job with Thai chicken pizza. It ain't Thai, and I can't really call it pizza, but it is good. Tonight is brew and whatever strikes my fancy at the local sports bar.

Sorry about the belly, but glad it's better. Dinner sounds like pure comfort.

It is, but it wouldn't have tom yum paste. This sounds like a tasty hybrid.
And thank you kindly, but hardly an expert ;)

Classic. Thank you! Way worse than craigslist. I found these dudes installing misters for someone else so I just walked up and solicited their services.

A huge beverage mart near me stocks it on occasion. I'm on their "to call" list :)

The ultimate yawn dinner menu here, cheeboogers on the grill and pap's favorite carrot and celery sticks. The exciting part of this dining experience? It's getting cool enough to grill without bursting into flames yourself. And dudes are showing up soon to install misters on my patio, so we can dine alfresco. A 6 pack of Staropramen is getting plenty cold in the fridge.

Excellent! I had been told there was a lot of Indian food. We should all try to make a "dinner in Bhutan" in the coming weeks :)

I can still make magic at the mall ;) An off topic book rec: http://www.amazon.com/Radio-Shangri-L...
Now, I have to go and figure out what's for dinner on a table in Bhutan!

Had rotisserie chicken yesterday, so I shredded up the juicy dark meat for yakisoba tonight. Yesterday at the maket, I also came across some nice shishito peppers so I'm going to sautee them as a side/nibble like this :http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/foo...
Excited to give them a try.

I watched it, too! The friend is indeed lucky. A girlfriend of mine visited a couple of years ago and said it was absolutely magical.

What cookbooks have you bought lately, or are you lusting after? September 2014 edition!

Finally! My copy of Avec Eric has arrived! I ordered it used from Amazon, and I'm sure most of you know the shipping times can vary. I flipped through it and was pleased to find so many drool worthy photos. Of food. Yes, food ;)
I'll be sure to cook from it this week.

Thanks, LW. The sun is out already, lol :) School was out and most people skipped work. I made it to the market and back just fine, but what a ghost town! Amounts varied around the city, but my end of it got 5.7 inches overnight--wowza.

Maybe something for the home like a nice small ceramic piece?

Last night's dinner was wonderful bratwursts on pretzel rolls and a few pints of pilsner at a wonderful Czech style brewery that opened recently. Fantastic. Record setting rains and street flooding will limit dinner to what I can pick up at the small market nearby. Likely rotisserie chicken, some roasted veg, and maybe angel hair pasta with parm and herbs.

Prague Very Special Occasion Dinner

Coda at the Aria hotel has superb food and a very elegant atmosphere. They have a tasting menu and an a la carte menu with a great selection of dishes.

There's one at DMK?! I do happen to be passing through in a few months. Huh. I'll be in Thailand for 3 weeks, so I might want a break from Thai food. I'll have to give it a go.

And... it tasted like crap. They put all the onions under a layer of cheese and it was a watery mess.
Tonight will be grilled chicken paninis. I grilled the chicken for them outside at about 9 this morning to beat the heat.
