Have any vegans been to Cellar 849 in Plymouth,Mi? Any good?

Well we went yesterday and took the pizzas home because we live very close. The place smells so amazing! They had just opened and looked like they were adding more wines when we arrived. We don't drink so the wine thing is not a deal breaker for us. We got the original and the mushroom and they were the best vegan pizzas we've had yet! Even if I hadn't been vegan, they smell and taste like a real Italian pizza should. My mouth is watering for them as I speak. A little pricey for the size because my husband and I could easily each eat a whole one. Possibly even part of a third if we were starved to death. About $10-13 a pizza. Our usual to-go place is Jets or we will get frozen Amy's (which I'm obsessed with). But this is hands down the best pizza anywhere near us. The wood fired taste is unmatched anywhere in this region. I used to think tomatoes apizza was the bomb, but this place wins hands down. YUM! My husband said before bed last night, "We're getting more of that pizza today... I don't care!" lol.

Thanks! Yah, I took a look at their menu online and it just sounds so awesome, but I agree with the cheese comment. I was a cheese-aholic about 2 years ago, and then became vegan and MOST vegan cheese is bogus. Yah, you heard me! :) But alas I won't revert so now I have to find a good pizza without cheese or with daiya mozzarella (like Michigo). Now- cheese w/o animal products... make the VegNews mac and cheese and you'll be shocked. No fake ingredients involved. :) I'll be sure to go and give it a try and I'll report back when I do... that pizza rosse sounds absolutely amazing. THANKS!

ISO great espresso in Detroit (dtw)

I'd like to add my own reply in case anyone reads this. Espresso Elvado in Plymouth has the most amazing coffee I've had in a long time! It's definitely worth noting.

I'm always on the lookout for a new pizza place and Cellar 849 looks awesome, but I haven't heard any vegan info on it. I'll probably call them at some point, but until my laziness subsides, have any of you been there, was it good, and how does it compare to other vegan-friendly pizza places in the area? I'm from Northville if that helps. Other places I've been: Michigo, Jets, Buddy's, Palermos, Tony Saccos, and Silvios. I love pizza.... :)

This is late in the game and not exactly close to Royal Oak, but Comet in downtown Ann Arbor located in Nickels arcade is one of the best in the area including out your way. I should know because I've tried just about every single coffee shop in SE Michigan lol :)!!! I worked for a few years as a heavily trained barista and NO ONE knows how to do it correctly!!! Ok, I may have exaggerated on that last part a smidge. There are a few people I'm sure, but Comet is really one of my favorite places, even though I'm from Northville. Also, if you are ever in the Chicago area, Intelligentsia is amazing!!! Ok, not close at all, but I had to plug it!

Metro Detroit and Lansing areas: are there any South African restaurants that serve nshima type food?

hey there! I've been trying to scout this one out because we are headed to Zambia June 2012. We really wanted to get a feel for the food. We love Ethiopian, but I haven't seen or heard of any South African cuisine in our area. We live in Northville and are willing to drive an hour or so. If there was even a place just to buy nshima (the staple food of Zambia) that would be awesome too. I tried making it..... @_@.... That didn't turn out so well. Thanks for the input it's well appreciated! -Shannon

Yah, I guess I'm looking for something that isn't necessarily an all veg restaurant, but has vegan dishes that is more upscale than a cafe like Inn Season. Thats not too fancy. I don't know. Is there a fancy indian restaurant, ethiopian, middleeastern, mexican... Just upscale with vegan dishes?

Vegetarian/Vegan Upscale in southeast Mi??!

Hey all! Wednesday is our one year anniversary being vegan! Yay! Unfortunately, I have no idea where to go for dinner. Are there any more upscale or fancy places around here that have vegetarian or vegan dishes? We live in novi and would travel up to an hour. We also love all kinds of food! And let's pretend for now that money is no option. Thanks again!

Vegan/Vegetarian in Detroit/Northville/Livonia/Novi/Canton area???

My husband and I would like to try something new! We are plain tired of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food. We are looking for places that carry vegetarian or vegan dishes. Please don't list Seva, or Inn Season, or anything like that. We usually eat at regular restaurants that have veg options like Baja Fresh, Taco Del Mar, Al Ameer, Vegan/Veg Cafe, Lai Thai, even Olive Garden and we're looking for something new. I hear Pineland is good, but we just had that type of food yesterday! Any suggestions? I'm at a loss and tomorrow is my hubbies b-day and he wants something new! Thanks bunches!!!
