~Brunch on a Sunday afternoon~

For weekend brunch, I love sitting outside at Universal Cafe. Their food and coffee is so good...and it's on a great quiet street in the Mission. Chloe's (Noe Valley) has fantastic brunch. Sometimes, you have to wait awhile for a table, though...but it's worth the wait. I really like eating at Boogaloo's on Valencia for weekend brunch. It's down-and-dirty eggs and potatoes with a bottomless cup of coffee and great people watching...lots of tattoos and piercings. I love the pesto tofu scramble there. And, they have sidewalk seating. For a more upscale brunch, Zuni is a unbeatable. Such good food. No outdoor seating, but great windows and light...classic SF.

Question about Pancakes in LA...

The pancake (it's just served as one large pancake) at Axe Restaurant in Venice on weekend mornings is unbelieveable. It is a dense nine-grain delicacy that has whole grains in it. It can be ordered with fresh, organic berries in the batter and the whole thing is browned to perfection and served with a pat of butter and a small container of maple syrup. So good...I crave it on weekends. Not a typical buttermilk, flour, or buckwheat pancake...that's why I like it so much!
