Propane range under $2k?

Very interesting, thanks for that link.

Would still like to consider some recommendations as well.

Propane range under $2k?

I just bought a house and need to swap out all the appliances. Right now there's room for a 30" range, but I can move some stuff around to fit a 36". I don't need anything fancy, and really have to keep it at 2k Max.

Looking for recommendations that'll work with an OTR microwave.

I saw a NXR 36" at a local discount/scratch and dent store for 1900, but I think it might be natural gas. It was manufactured in 2008 which might be good since I heard the newer ones use cheaper steel.

But, assuming that idea isn't available, what would you recommend in my price range?

Can someone recommend a 30'' gas range under $1k?

That model says it is 47'' high... my counters are 36'' - wondering if the measurement they list is to the very top, or to the cooking surface?

Can someone recommend a 30'' gas range under $1k?

Just bought a place and the oven has seen better days.. 2002 Whirlpool Gold, 30'' gas free-standing range, 4 burners. All of the burner grates are almost bare of their porcelain (?) coating, and overall looks in bad shape. Thought I'd replace it as all the other appliances are fine. Everything matches, so I'd like to keep it that way, so only something with the black/stainless combo for colors. Also, would like to keep it below $1k if possible, but willing to go above if there's one I have to get.

I feel I'd like a 5-burner model if they are worth it - the middle burner seems useful. Not sure if ranges this small have the option to come with a grill or anything like that in the middle (or anywhere I guess), but that would catch my eye if so.

This looked interesting to me from Lowes:

http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?p...

5 burner, and you can put the griddle/grill over the middle burner.

Also liked this one:

Any ideas/recommendations? Things to look for?

What are the bakeware essentials?

Trying to furnish a kitchen and am down to bakeware at this point. Not looking for anything fancy, can pick up stuff at the local restaurant supply store, but just wondering what the essential items I need are?

I have a muffin tin, but what about things like a casserole dish, pie pans, loaf pan, etc? What are the advantages/disadvantages of getting some of those cheap disposable tin pie pans? Any recommendations for items I "need" would be appreciated (including sizes.. ie, 9 or 10 inch pan, etc.)

Sharpening Steel Recommendations

Looking for some recommendations on an affordable sharpening steel, preferably for sale on Amazon. I don't need anything fancy, just whatever will get the job done with my dexter chefs knife.

Knife suggestions under $50, left handed

Found a deal for a slightly used Wusthof Grand Prix 9'' chefs knife (~$30) locally. Any thoughts on this line, and if it would be a good buy? I see it has a full bolster, but other than that reviews look good. (Not sure if its the Grand Prix or Grand Prix II yet)

Knife suggestions under $50, left handed

I've been leaning towards just getting an 8'' dexter chefs knife for $25, but wanted to check if there's anything worth getting for an extra $25 (up to $50)?

I do like the heavier feel of a german knife, which I won't get with the DR, but I don't think it presents a problem... I've used a Victorinox many times, but like the feel of the DR a little bit better for some reason.

Is there anything $50 or less that would suit me better than the DR, or at that price point will I not see any real differences? Keep in mind, I am left handed... not sure what knives won't work for me - don't think the DR or Victorninox matters righty or lefty, right?

Name of flatware used on 30-Minute Meals and Iron Chef America?

Sorry to revive an old post, but what is the flatware in the image you posted Soop? Can't get back to the Amazon link from the picture.

Victorinox Fibrox vs. D-R Sani-Safe vs. Mundial 5100

Anyone know how tall the Dexter and Victorinox are? As in, how tall is the blade at the part closest to the handle? Just wondering as I have a 10'' chefs knife that I bought a couple weeks ago, and it is incredibly tall. I thought I would like it, but I'm not too sure now. Just wondering if either of these two are a little shorter but I can't find dimensions anywhere online.

Victorinox Fibrox vs. D-R Sani-Safe vs. Mundial 5100

Have you used the Victorinox Fibrox for comparison? Just wondering how these two stack up against each other, since they are pretty much the same price.

Paring/utility knife recommendations?

At pretty much the same price point for a 10" chef's knife, is Victorinox or Dexter-Russell sani safe better than one another?

Does one sharpen/hold an edge better?

Paring/utility knife recommendations?

Thanks for all of the replies everyone.

I ordered a Sanelli 4'' paring knife because I found it cheap ($15) and have been wanting to try out one of their knives.

Anyone have recommendations for a honing steel that works well with these commercial type knives (Victorinox, Dexter-Russell, etc..)? Something cheap, preferably ;) Amazon if possible as I have a gift card that needs to be used.

Paring/utility knife recommendations?

Looking for a cheap paring knife and some type of utility serrated knife for tomatoes and things that my chefs knife and the paring knife aren't made for.

Any recommendations on something cheap? For the paring knife, what is more common, 3.5'' or 4''? Was looking at the Victorinox and Dexter-Russell knives in 3.25'' for around $5-8. Also saw the Wusthof Classic 3.5'' knife, for $40.. that much better for $30+ more than the cheap commercial knives?

Also saw some reviews on the F Dick 7'' Offset utility knife - around $25.. any opinion on this knife, or something better for the same price point or lower?

KnifePro knives - any experiences with them?

Came across these knives online for $20 for a 10'' chefs knife.. wondering if anyone has used these, and how they compare to Forschner or Dexter-Russell chefs knives?

http://www.knifeprocutlery.com/chef/c...

I've been looking for the knife used in the show Chuck's Day Off on food network/cooking channel, as posted here: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/746857 and this KnifePro looks similar.

I don't think that's the brand.. Sanelli knives have the orange section on the handle... the one Chuck is using doesn't.

Victorinox Fibrox vs. D-R Sani-Safe vs. Mundial 5100

So if I want to try out a dexter russell, should I just save some money and grab one from the basic line? They have plastic handles it looks like from the amazon picture. Im not going to put it in the dishwasher anyway.

Victorinox Fibrox vs. D-R Sani-Safe vs. Mundial 5100

What are the pros/cons of each of these 10'' knives?

1. Victorinox Fibrox
2. Dexter-Russell Sani-Safe
3. Mundial 5100 Forged

I realize that the first 2 are stamped and the Mundial is forged, but they are all at a similar price point. I have an 8'' Victorinox Fibrox knife, and my only complaint is that it is very light.. not sure that I would necessarily like something heavier, as I've never tried, but that is just my impression from using it for a while.

So if you've used more than one of these on the list, which did you like better, and why?
-blade thickness, weight, etc..

Also, what is more common - 8'' chefs knife or 10''? I have an 8'' now as I mentioned, but I figure why not go for the 10''.

Edit - one more question - for the Dexter-Russells, what is the difference between the Basics and Sani-Safe line? Notice around a $10 price difference.. same knife but different handle?

Chuck's Day Off - what knife?

Anyone that has watched Chuck's Day Off on FN/CC... any idea what knife he uses with the green handle? I know he uses a knife rental company for his knives, but just curious to see if anyone recognizes that particular knife.
