Trader Joe's YAY/MEH/NAY - August 2014 [OLD]

I agree! Just bought some this weekend...loving the pieces of crystallized ginger in them!

I second that yay!! The nice "bite" of parm with the creaminess of gouda.

Master Chef 8/18 spoilers

I was thinking the exact same thing! Surely Gordon doesn't believe what he said.

The Taste semi 2/13 spoilage

I love the way Marcus dresses! He looks fresh off the runway....and not many people can pull that off. He's one who can.

What's for Dinner #234 -- The Dog Days of Summer Edition #4 thru Jul 24, 2013

Hubby's been out of town, so I'm having leftovers of what I made last night - Ina Garten's panko crusted salmon and some braised kale with asian flavors (soy sauce, mirin, ginger, garlic, etc.)

Pumpkin recipes (canned or fesh)

Pumpkin enchiladas or burritos.....use the pumpkin as you would refired beans....very good! Google it....

Cornbread: Sweet or Savory?

Not to mention that sweet cornbread would not bode well in cornbread dressing, a Southern staple.

I've lived in Texas all my life, parents from Louisiana, and I never had sweet cornbread until Boston Market moved into the region! I like it, but I think of it more like the corn muffins you get in the northeast.

And, to satisfy the sweet tooth of us kids, my mother would - on occasion - make the Malt-O-Meal muffins from the recipe on the box!

New Year's Eve

Sure. I guess I was asking more about food, ambiance, maybe a place that has something special going on early.

New Year's Eve

Hey fellow Houstonians!

Anyone have recs for a good semi-special dinner on NYE? My bf and I would like to go out earlier in the evening and get back home before all the crazies come out. ;-)

If it helps, we live on the SE side so we'd be fine with Clear Lake area, downtown, midtown, River Oaks, possibly Galleria....

I don't get the chicken and waffle craze.

I don't regard this as a "craze" either. Many fried chicken places in the South serve honey with fried chicken, so waffles don't seem like a large jump.

The best I've ever had was at the Breakfast Klub in Houston....mmm, mmm, sweet and savory goodness!
