Hawaiian Shaved Ice
Eton in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn has it. I think they were on Foodography actually. Good dumplings too!
What not to miss at Stanton Social
I happen to love the french onion soup dumplings! I think the chicken and waffles is good too.
Fast food chinese
I'm pretty sure there's Wok 'n Roll on 1st Ave around 68th St and one down on Bleecker St.
Beer places in Manhattan
I like a lot of the places mentioned, but also these:
Stag's Head : Good selection of craft beers on tap that are always changing, plus lots of bottles & cans, knowledgeable bartenders who always answer my questions, steer me in the right direction, and let me taste when i'm unsure of what to get.
And surprised no one mentioned Hop Devil Grill. Also a good selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and good specials. I especially like this place for a group- plus the $10 sangria pitcher night.
NYE Restaurant Rec. Pre-Phish
oh my lord! ;)
Maybe stick to a bar? Stout (though I'm not much of a fan of their food, people like their burgers) I've been trying to think of where I can go that night too, for an early good meal, but I think a bar might have to suffice. I'm still doing some research...
30th Birthday Dinner for 12
we went to Frank for mine, and it worked out pretty well. I think there were 13 or 14 of us, and it was somewhere around $55-60/person, though they treated me...

Long Beach Island, NJ?
I'm going out to LBI this weekend. Is there anything new and good, since most of these suggestions are from 3 years ago, the last time I was there actually! Nothing uber-fancy or expensive, but good and reasonable?
Looking for a Homemade Ice Cream Sandwich
Lure has 4 varieties for desert... I think homemade.
Chocolate fountain/fondue
Dylans might work for that... On weekends they have the fountain out on the main level and you can buy individual pieces. They do parties upstairs I think, where they have a cafe space.
Or Max Brenner.

Bachelorette Party...NEED HELP!
agreed on buddakan, inoteca, stanton social...
China 1 might be fun. You can get a table in the lounge after you eat...
Dinner and/or drinks - Pre Concert at Madison Square Garden
here is my standard pre-msg list. all of these bars are within a few blocks, and likely will be packed. see ya at the shows ;-)
Stout (huge bar, good beer selection, lots of rooms, food-burgers and such, gets very crowded but can always get a table w/ a wait if there is one.
Mustang Harry's (& sally's) i like them, low key, good bar food
Harringtons (i think it gets really loud at the bar)
Local (frattier ( i guess for lack of a better term) bar atmosphere, & typical bar food, smallish too)
Tir Na Nog (irish pub, not very large)
keens - you can got to the pub side, get great food
nick & stef's (steakhouse in MSG, good wine selection, good for nicer scene/apps, don't care for the steak so much)
7 (trendier lounge-if it's still there)
a few blarney rock/stones
oh, and brother jimmies (eh ick )
Private dining in wine cellar for 15-18 people?
maybe downstairs at inoteca-or maybe the new one on 23rd has other spaces.
Aroma has a downstairs space too, but I don't know a lot about it
momofuku fried chicken - wow! incredible!
a friend got a lunch reservation, so luckily i got to go this weekend! and i loved it!!!
there were 5 of us, and we all had to have some pork buns, and several veggie sides too. we all liked different sauces, the different chicken styles, mooshu wrap vs none, and overall we had a great time enjoying our meal!
we had enough left over for 2 people to take some chicken home (maybe 5-6 pieces). So I agree 6 people is probably perfect, depending on whether you want to order other things while you are there, and if you want leftovers.
while it was delicious and i loved it, i think the traditional fried chicken was little too heavy on the old bay/seasoning for my taste. The chicken was so good & crisp outside, and moist inside though.
the regular diners at the table next to us were eyeing the chicken the whole time- it was kind of funny ;-)
i have been trying to get a dinner reservation to bring some other friends, but so far no luck.
Momofuku Fried Chicken
Thanks fo rsharing those photos! I'm going for lunch Saturday- so excited!
Rockwell's Express in the old Rickshaw Dumpling Space
yeah, I've been awaiting its opening- i work nearby.
There used to be several in Westchester & the ony one left is in Pelham. I saw their truck outside on 8th street a few weeks ago, confirming it is the same Rockwells, then saw the awning go up. Good burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, wings... I've always been a fan. It's good but not earthshattering.
I'll be very happy to have another lunch option!
Are there any cheap restaurants to get quality oysters in NYC, preferably on the west side?
happy hour at Lure
creative chowhound challenge! bars w/ food to invade with large group?
i was going to say Spitzer's as well!
Looking for a cooking class/dining experience for a present?
thanks.. i'm not sure where that is-i'm not from around there... i prefer something concrete that already exists and i might be able to find some feedback on.
the viking classes look like what we're going with, but i was hoping to find someone who might go to their home. thanks again.
Looking for a cooking class/dining experience for a present?
just wondering if anyone has any more new ideas on this? i'm thinking of getting some cooking classes or an in home chef experience as a wedding gift.
does anyone know of any chefs that come to your home and do this? or any ofhter cooking classes in philly? thanks!
Need rec for SOHO bar office party
my soho office did Nolita House once- not quite soho, but close. they were very reasonable & worked with us.
Maybe Lure can accommodate you in the bar area or private room?
Maybe Obivia?
We did Antarctica once too and i recall people weren't fond of it.
grilled whole fish.....rec's please
ed's lobster bar usually has a simple, delicious grilled fish of the day.
i've also had a great special one at Frank.
Pie tins for mini pies?
i'm blanking on what it's called but there's a great place on 8th just w. of b'way, n. side of the street... i bet they'd have it!
Red Mango - what do you think?
Red Mango might be my fave of these places now, though Yolato is close... also really like ks cause it's healthier-less sugar, so tastes it. I have been a Pinkberry fan, but those days seem to be fadin g;-) i do like their green tea flavor alot, but like Red Mango's better.
looking for cozy italian place
I recommend Il Corallo Trattoria on prince st.- inexpensive pastas (i want to say about $13 and under), pizzas & salads. good size portions too, considering the prices. and you might just make the price point....lots of choices too. i love the place.
it is on the small side and gets crowded, but you can definitely still have a conversation.
Best Chicken Salad?
i'm constantly searching for it too, but have given up on most delis...
EJs is the only place i love it- and on challah especially!
Bloomies (40 carrots) used to be one of my faves, but haven't had it in a while.
230 Fifth Age Policy
well, it's definitely much more bar/lounge ( i don't think i've eever seen food there at all other than b-day cake) and they definitely card. i haven't been since last summer, but i recall they card you before they even let you inhe elevator. i would think late nite especially, when i'ts busy, it will be strict.
maybe go 5ish after work and try to blend in?
Chocolate Covered Matzah near Midtown?
Crumbs has it- and passover cupcakes! :-) I think theres one in mid-town, right?
