Back in the San Mateo. Any additions or deletions I should make to the list? |
I looked at Whole foods and Ranch 99 with no luck. Any suggestions? |
Anyone know where I can find this retail around San Diego? |
Great. I will check it out. Thanks! |

Up in the Bay Area I fell in love with a ramen house that had phenomenal miso broth, noodles, braised pork and the works. It had great beer, sake and soju as well. The only one in San Diego I have gone to is Santouka Ramen. I was not impressed. Not horrible but not chow worthy. The ramen was so/so at best, seating was hard to find, cash only and they did not serve beer. Has anyone had better luck? |

Been a huge fan of Ba Ren in the past but lately have been unimpressed. The last two times the service has been atrocious and the cooked food so/so. Last night I went and asked for the pigs ear cold dish and the guy did not know what I was talking about. A lady also waiting and I had to show him. The last time I went we ended up leaving after 45 minutes and not getting our food. Has anyone else had similar experiences? Are they under new management. Can some one recommend a better place to go? Thanks! |

Thanks guys. Home made meats had it boneless. Tip top also had it bone in. |

Looking to make Venison paillards from the leg. Any suggestions on where to buy? |

Perfect. All the same on freshness.....or is that relevant? |

I would like to make tripe stew. I have never purchased tripe. Any suggestion on good quality places? |

Thank you for all the great recommendations. I only had time to try two. Vincent's for lunch. Not a great experience. The burger came in less than 5 minutes and was not warm. It wasn't bad but not Chowhound worthy. The Caesar was worse. What Vincent's lacked, La Grassa made up for. Wow. Dinner was fantastic. The egg and lobster was unreal, but what really blew me away was the Foie Gras tortellini. Talk about food heroin! My friends let me order all dishes and afterwards told we did not get the best ones (chicken with polenta and st louis ribs). |

Just got in to town. Thinking Vincent's for lunch and Saffron for dinner. Excited!!! |

Anyone know where I can buy these retail? I would like to make a killer tortellini with Foie Gras terrine. |

I will be downtown MN. I really really appreciate the recomendations. I will report back what I try. THANKS!!!!!! |
Some.....mostly downtown. Did you have something in mind? |
Love all sorts of food. Would love some recs on local gems. Staying downtown. Casual preferred but if there is a must eat, I would love to hear about it. |

I have seen Duck fat at whole foods. Does anyone know where I can find goose fat? |
Does anyone know where I can buy this? I checked Specialty Produce and they did not have it. ----- |

Will do. Really liked the meal. Could just be a bit warmer. Has anyone tried the Lamb Head? Saw that and got curious? Also, how is the rabbit? |
I tried Texcoco yesterday. Loved it overall. The broth was amazing. My only critique was that the lamb was barely warm. |

Hi Vegas CHs! Headed to Mesquite next week for a golf trip. Any recommendations? Thanks |

Sorry for the delay in posting. I have been to a few now. Highlights below. Cooking Papa. Probably would need to eat there and know more what to order. Had excellent Shrimp Dim Sum. Hotaru. Great Mackerel Curry Up Now. Fantastic. We had the Tikka burrito and the chicken french fries and both were amazing. This place is a gem. Himawari. Ate there tonight. Some of the best food ever. Had a braised pork appetizer and my friend ordered New York rolls. Both were incredible. The ramen broth was so flavorful and the the stewed pork melted in my mouth. Highly recommend this place. Fantastic. . ----- Cooking Papa |

Awesome recommendations. Went to Osteria Coppa for dinner. Had the squid pizza which was very fresh and very good. We also had the short ribs pasta dish. This was fantastic in taste, but very small in portion. I saw such remarks on Yelp (I could not see much reviews on CH). I politely gave feedback to the waitress who said she had heard this before. Overall, great food, good service and i would go back. Only knock was the portion size for the pasta. ----- |

Well I set up to eat at Little Shanghai and they are closed on Mondays. I ended up at Joy. Tried to order the pork chics in pigs blood (sounded very cool and authentic). The waitress told me not to and recommended the 3 cups chicken. Good soup, great presntation for the dish and good flavor. My knock was the quality of the chicken was not good. Seemed at least a few days old. Will try Osteria Coppa tonight. ----- Osteria Coppa |

This fantastic. I love the ethnic choices.......especially Japanese. I have a place here that serves home Japanese cooking. I can't wait to try some of these recommendations. Anything NON ethnic you guys recommend? |

Hey CHs. Visiting from San Diego next week. Could use some great recommendations on any cool casual foodie restaurants in the area. Ethic or non......up for anything. Just nothing real pricey. Thanks!!!!! |

I confirmed today for future that the African/Carrabean market has them fresh frozen at all times. I am going make jerk pork this weekend and pick some up. |
So funny. I was going to ask the same thing from CH. There used to be a place called African/Caribbean Food Market that used to carry them on El Cajon BLVD. Try there. http://www.acfmsandiego.com/ |
