I second Berryhill fish tacos - they are amazing!

SAN ANTONIO

Bronwen's list is a good one. If you get tired of staying on the Riverwalk and want to take a short drive (less than 5 minutes) from downtown, the King William district has some interesting options as well in a nice artsy scene (art shops) with beautiful stone houses in the neighborhood. Nice walking area with a lot of good dining options. Try Rosario's for TexMex.

Visiting Montreal - need recommendations for local bistros and brunch

Thanks for the recommendations. We reserved at Lemeac for Sun. brunch and Trois Petits Bouchons for Mon. late dinner - they were fully booked until 9:30pm.

Give me 3 dinners in San Antonio please :-)

In the Westin hotel, try Zocca - great location with an awesome patio right on the riverwalk, and top Italian. Also try Acenar for modern Mexican and great cocktails - next door to the Valencia Hotel.

San Antonio Itinerary: Beer and Food

I second Blue Star for a riverwalk / patio brewery choice.

BBQ and beer in San Antonio

Try also Blue Star Brewing Company. Excellent microbrew beers made in house, and very good burgers. But they don't do ribs and chicken as far as I know. Also, live bands on many nights add to the great casual atmosphere.

Visiting Montreal - need recommendations for local bistros and brunch

Howdy Montreal chowhounders. My husband and I will be visiting Montreal this weekend for a wedding anniversary and Valentine's long weekend. We've been to Montreal a couple of times. Will be going back to Chasse et Peche for dinner tonight and Piment Rouge for dinner tomorrow night for our two celebrations. We've also done some of the tourist circuit - Pied de Cochon, Schwartz's, etc, but looking for other tasty bistro / local cuisine recommendations that are popular with local chowhounders and, frankly, not as heavy on fat and high cholesterol items for their specialties (we have lots of that in Texas...), maybe with more balance on the menu with other food groups - fish, poultry, vegetables. We're splurging at Chasse et Peche and Piment Rouge, so our budget limit for Sunday and Monday nights is in the upper-mid range (under $40 per person per meal). Also, any good recommendations for a bistro style brunch (not looking for diner style or American style like Eggspectations)? Thanks for the help.

My Favorite Houston Restaurants, yours?

In no particular order, here are some of my favorites:

Berryhill Baja - incredible fish tacos
Kata Robata
Vieng Thai
Boogie's for BBQ
Rioja for tapas - one of my favorite restaurants in the city

Sushi lovers. What's the consensus on Kenichi at the W?

Very good sushi, but not the most creative at Kenichi unless you spend ooodles of dollars for the omakase. Generally very expensive. My favorite for sushi in Dallas is probably still Tei Tei.

Vegetarian friendly restaurants in North Dallas?

Seasons 52 is a chain, but they have a lot of vegetarian items. There is a location in Plano near the Legacy Town Center. I was there in December and has a vegetarian grilled plate that included 3 or 4 different types of fancy squashes and miniature pumpkins. Also had a vegetarian chili that was excellent. Their vegetarian flatbreads (tomato and cheese, mushrooms, etc.) are also very good.

Best Tasting Menu In Vegas

I tried Joel Rochuchon two weeks ago. I didn't have to pay (business dinner), but the tasting menu was over $300 per person!! It was out of this world, especially the roasted lobster and bone marrow courses. If you're on less astronomical budget, I also tried Bradley Ogden - their three (or was it four?) course tasting menu for $55, California cuisine, and it was exceptionally tasty and beautifully presented for the price - highly recommended.

Restaurant advice in San Antonio..

I agree! Little Rhein has a great location on a beautiful section of the River Walk, but definitely expensive / overpriced for the quality level they offer.

48 hours in San Antonio, help me narrow it down

Rosario's is great for tex-mex food at reasonable prices. Margaritas are served in huge glasses! They also have live music on weekend evenings - a lot of fun! Acenar is also very nice - kind of modern latin/mexican, with a nice outdoor patio area facing the river, great food and cocktails.

SA trip report

Agree with your comment on Riverwalk. Can be confusing, and definitely more of a night time place to be. However, I'm a big fan of Acenar at the Valencia Hotel for modern Mexican and great guacamole. Also good, though it's another hotel restaurant, is Zocca at the Westin Hotel - very good northern Italian, and beautiful patio facing a nice section of the Riverwalk.

Dallas, Austin & San Antonio - Must not miss restaurants

For San Antonio, try Rosario's in King WIlliam area for Mexican or Acenar at the Valencia Hotel for modern Mexican. Acenar has a beautiful patio facing the River Walk. They also prepare guacamole table-side that is great.

Tei Tei -- Why are they in such a bad mood? (Dallas)

Nobu is good, but very expensive compared to Tei Tei. In my opinion, if you can handle the wait to get in at Tei Tei and the occasional moody service, Tei Tei has better food and much better prices, though of course less glitzy than Nobu.

Hard Hat Report Vol 6

Went to Belmont a month ago while in Austin for work and it was surprisingly very good for a trendy bar-type spot. Had the pork shoulder with escarole and beans, fried rock shrimp and side of fresh corn. BIG portions.

Bambu - North Dallas / Richardson - Incredible New Thai Restaurant!

I went last night based on your recommendation. Love fish and they had a lot of good choices. The Whole Garlic Fish was amazing - tender fish, rich sauce full of flavor. The Yen Ta Fo seafood soup was excellent.

Dallas Steakhouse Recommendations

Bob's Steak and Chop House on Lemmon in Dallas or Legacy in Plano are good choices as well. Old fashioned service, good portion sizes, great beef.
