Good hotels with good restaurants short drive from Seattle?
I have to respond to the suggestion of Port Ludlow. My husband and I used to really enjoy this place. In fact, it's where he proposed to me almost 6 years ago.. We went back a couple months ago and we were sadly disappointed. We arrived late on Friday - after 8pm. We had dinner reservations and while we were waiting for the ferry, it took a couple phone calls to ensure we could still get a meal. (They stop serving between 8:30 and 9pm). We sat in the cozy bar and had terrible wait service with a poorly prepared meal. We were the only ones there. The rooms are comfortable, but we enjoy watching movies and they have tiny tvs. No flat screens here. You can do better somewhere else.
Last minute reservations for this weekend
Thanks! We're going to Sens on Friday, Azie on Saturday and my husband and I will go to Aziza on Sunday.
Last minute reservations for this weekend
Hi All,
I've been tasked with securing reservations for a party of six for this Friday and Saturday night. Ahh, the last minute scramble. We're all coming from Seattle for a tradeshow and I've enjoyed reading up on the "must" restaurants. Of course, I've tried a few for reservations and no luck. I've tried: Azziza, The Slanted Door, and Incanto and there's either nothing available or we'd have to wait till 9pm. That's too late in my opinion. I'm getting discouraged. Any words of advise? We're staying near Union Square but we're not limited to that area. Price range would be entrees high teens to low twenties. Type of food is wide open.
Thanks all.
Seattle or Eastside - Restaurant to celebrate an anniversary
I would also recommend Cafe Juanita in Kirkland.

Thanks everyone. We had a fabulous meal at Franklin last night. We started with their rendition of a wedge salad. Two nice crispy wedges of iceburg lettuce with blue cheese dressing, tomato and the most yummy smoked bacon. My only criticism would be that it was too big and the blue cheese wasn't anything out of the ordinary. My main course was a perfectly done pan seared Atlantic halibut (crunchy and flakey) and Dan had the surf and turf. I did do a coffee run this morning to Helmuts for "naughties" and Bean and Leaf for coffee and tea. The croissants we ate weren't anything special and we saved the studel for tomorrow. The americano from Bean and Leaf was too weak but that was probably my fault for not ordering an extra shot in the large. ( We're pretty picky coffee drinkers. Although I'm not a big Starbucks fan, you can at least count on a quality coffee drink at any locaiton.) We had a great lunch at Alchemy today. I had the Alchemy Wrap which was all grilled fresh veggies wrapped with portabella mushrooms and goat cheese. Very good. And Dan had the sausage pizza which as also excellent. I'm very impressed with the fare we had in Gloucester. And the prices were reasonable. Thanks again to the foodies for steering me in the right direction.

Two votes for the Franklin. Sounds like a winner. Thanks. That "dry" thing about Rockport...I was reading reviews and saw mention of restaurants being dry - they must have been posted quite a while ago. I worked in Rockport waaay back in 1990ish and don't remember any restaurants except a place where I could get a killer grilled tunafish sandwhich for lunch when my paycheck allowed. Cheers.
Cape Ann Dinner
Hi All,
My husband and I are heading up to Rockport MA for a night away from the kids July 20. Any suggestions for a nice dinner? We're getting our fill of lobster while staying with my parents in Rye, NH so it doesn't have to be that. And how dry is Rockport? Can we get wine with dinner in Rockport? We're happy to venture over to Gloucester if that's where we can find a better meal. I've read a couple things about Halibut Point and Lobster Pool - any other suggestions? Since we live in Seattle, seafood is a common staple for us, which we love. We're not partial to any type of food in particular. I'm more interested in a good meal. Thanks!
