One foodie's day in London?? Suggestions needed

Thanks for all the suggestions. Tomorrow is my day for wandering so will report how I get on! Am certainly up for the walk - walked to Borough after I arrived yesterday (good to stretch the legs after 24 hours on a plane!) and got there as things were closing up, but will definitely be good for more tomorrow.

One foodie's day in London?? Suggestions needed

Hi. I will be passing through London shortly for 2 days of work, and have one full Saturday to myself. I'm looking for recommendations for an easy day (I will have just flown for 26 hours) of foodie fun - I was planning to visit the Borough Market, but most of the posts from other Chowhounds make it sound like it will be hellishly busy. Other ideas? I love good markets (just returned from a year in France), am on a comfortable budget (would be happy to spend 100+ pounds in the day), and probably favour the casual over the formal or haute cuisine. I'm travelling solo, and will be staying at the Royal Horseguards in Whitehall Court. Suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

Kitchenaid or other brand mixer, downunder?

Hi
I am purchasing my first stand mixer, which I want for bread, pasta, baking etc...I am considering buying a Kitchenaid, but here in NZ, there are only 3 models available - the Artisan (300 watts) and the Heavy Duty/'Professional (both 325 watts, and, it seems to me identical, other than the fact that the 'Professional' comes with two bowls, and has 'thermal overload protection'). All three models retail at around the NZ$1000 mark. (Ouch).
My question is, given that there are only these 3 models to choose from (ie not the range of more powerful machines available in the US), would you recommend the Kitchenaid over, say, a Kenwood? It appears there are tons of models of Kenwood available, with engines up to 1000 watts.
Keen for your thoughts!

Need recommendation for stocking up on dried chiles

Many thanks - will post how I get on, esp. with getting them through NZ customs!!

Need recommendation for stocking up on dried chiles

Great. Is it likely I'll find this brand at the Fresh & Easy or at the Grand Central Market? (Am imagining that the market might only have bulk/unsealed bags...)

Need recommendation for stocking up on dried chiles

Great idea re the mail - I might send myself a gift!

Need recommendation for stocking up on dried chiles

Yes, I am pretty sure I will only be able to bring into NZ chiles in commercially sealed packages...(ie not bulk bin, unfortunately.) Is it likely I will find these at the markets mentioned in the posts here?

Need recommendation for stocking up on dried chiles

Hi
I am a Kiwi (from NZ) flying through LA en route home, and I need recommendations for the best place to stock up on dried mexican chiles (anchos, guajillos, etc - which incidentally, cost a fortune in NZ). We are staying in the Hollywood/Highland area and have no car (eek - yes, I know!) so recommendations for stores accessible by subway would be great.
Thanks very much.
