Thanks for everyone who responded. I ended up going to Huge Tree Pastry. It was quite tasty. I'm a big fan of their sticky rice roll. I asked for it with a soy egg. It was unfortunate that there was a detour which caused us to get lost (with GPS). Oh well! We even got some bubble tea at Ten Ren across the street. The employees are so much friendlier in CA than in NY! ;)

I recently tried the new Coco Fresh Tea & Juice on Roosevelt Ave and Main Street. Their menu is kind of limited, but their mango icy （芒果冰沙) is really tasty. I think they might even use fresh mango. I also tried my favorite drink, passion fruit green tea and it was also very good. This chain is from Taiwan and is pretty average there, but in Flushing it's definitely good. I prefer them over Kung Fu Tea. Is it just me or are their employees extremely rude? I don't understand why they only make some drinks warm/hot and others not? Tea is usually hot!

Hello LAers. I'll be attending a wedding in Santa Monica this weekend. I'll be staying near LAX and was wondering if there are any Taiwanese breakfast restaurants within 20 minutes? I have been doing my research it appears that most Taiwanese places are more inland in Monterey Park, Rowland Heights, San Gabriel etc. Should I just suck it up and head to Huge Tree Pastry (it seems to be the closest to where I'm staying). I haven't been to Teado for a few weeks. I just went today at 11am and I was surprised to find them closed. I just called them and no one picked up. Please tell me they are just closed for vacation or something. I didn't see any notices. They are my favorite bubble tea place in Manhattan! :( Any one know?

I'm excited! I saw their signage up a couple weeks ago and thought they had already opened. I just hope this one has more seating than their other Manhattan outposts.

I'm going to have to say BaoHaus because it's the closest to an authentic Taiwanese guabao. You should try the beef version, it's tasty!

I walked by SS yesterday evening. I noticed there were SS employees standing outside giving out menus. There were plenty of people inside and eating. I was told that it was a family and friends event and that they should be opening on Thursday or Friday this week. I can't wait for my shack burger.

I am so excited! I will attempt to get on Friday. :)

I'm not sure if anyone is excited about the opening of this location, but I checked last night and they now have a sign on their door saying that the wait is almost over! I hope they open by the end of this week. From what I saw, there seems to be plenty of seating inside. I am hoping they have outside seating as well. The menus are up and the kitchen looks ready to go!

I walk by Shake Shack everyday and I've noticed that they have removed all the paper and we can see into the restaurant. When will they be opening? I am really anxious. I heard about the long line at the new one in Times Square. I am hoping this location will be as busy as the UWS location.

I went to Teado per your recommendation tonight. It was really good. I asked for half sugar for my passionf fruit green tea and the female employee let me try a little bit to make sure it was sweet enough. My friend got the Wind's Special and she picked mango soda with tapioca balls. My other friend got the starfruit slush with litchi jellies. The service was really good! I'll be back soon.

I am a fan of Onya. It's fresh Japanese udon noodles. Yum! I've only been there for dinner, but I've heard about their lunch specials. You can get an udon with a small rice bowl for like $10.

My friends who like bubble/boba enjoy Quickly. There are two in Chinatown and one in Flushing. The other one is on Pell Street right by Joe's Shanghai. I took my Taiwanese friends to Vivi and they were not impressed. :( That used to be my go-to place as well!

I agree with Greg. Tajin's burritos are excellent! I also highly recommend the Limeade (or maybe it's Lemonade). It's quite refreshing on a warm summer day.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm waiting for them to open for lunch too. I was hoping no one would dare to eat ramen in a hot and humid summer day in NYC. They better have the A/C on. To me, the noodles are almost as important as the broth. They need to be a little al dente. I'm definitely interested in trying it out this summer. I'll post my review then!

Did anyone try the new ramen place opened by the owners of yakitori totto yet? I waited in line for about 5 minutes before my friend and I decided to go elsewhere last night. There place is tiny and has seating for about 10-12 people at the bar. Currently, they are only open for dinner which starts at 5pm. Please let me know what you guys think! I hope to go some time soon. Perhaps when the line is shorter...

I've only had lian wu a couple of times in NYC. This was several years ago and they were really red but REALLY sour. So bad. Maybe by now they are sweeter? I doubt they will ever compare to Taiwanese lian wu. Please keep us updated. I am excited!

Howie, my friend and I just went for lunch today. It was pretty good. It's funny that they still have the old menus and the old hanging sign. Their outside sign says Old Yeah Shanghai. So funny. Anyway, the soup dumplings, xue cai rou si mian and sticky rice shumai were very tasty. The scallion pancakes were a bit over fried and too crispy for us. All in all we were pleasantly surprised! It's weird to see the staff all dressed up in their uniforms. Like everyone else, I didn't recognize anyone in the staff.

Oh wow, I've been to Yong He then. I just never looked for their name. It's by the bubble tea place there right? Yeah, lots of places in Taipei are called Yong He. I'll have to go back there for Taiwanese breakfast. Last time I went to the Flushing Mall was after a feast at King 5 Noodle. I think I'm biased because the owner always talks to me and my family there! I definitely don't want them to go out of business.

And yes, I love how you can ask for half sweet at Quickly. I didn't even think of doing that, but I always do that in Taipei!

Where is Yong He in Flushing? My friend took me to the famous one on the way from the airport in Taipei. I still prefer the alley near my grandma's apartment. SO GOOD! I'm craving it now!

Nan Bei He is actually owned by the owners of King 5 Noodle. They closed Nan Bei He recently. I went to King 5 Noodle for dinner about a month ago and the owner confirmed that Nan Bei He is done for good. I think King 5 Noodle is probably the best Taiwanese breakfast in Flushing. I'll have to try Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao and see if it's any good.

As for bubble tea, there is always Ten Ren or Quickly. I prefer Quickly because they have a VIP card and you get 20% off once you get like 5 drinks. Plus, they seal their teas, which reminds me of Taiwan. :)

I've done take out and they do separate the noodles and the soup. It just tastes better sitting at the bar. Yum! I would assume they package it the same way for delivery.

Wow, I can't believe I just heard of this now. I'd love a Trader Joe's, but I'll take a Fairway over Whole Foods! :) I really hope they get the space and are open soon. Certainly beats going to Gristedes/Food Emporium.

I'm a fan of their Curry Ramen. Yum. It's not bad for ramen in the UES. I'm also a big fan of Pio Pio (Peruvian roasted chicken & french fries). I'm not sure about breakfast places since I'm still looking for a good brunch place. Uptown Lounge does a pretty good brunch. Corner Bakery isn't too bad either. I am enjoy their corn bread. :) Welcome to the neighborhood! Oh yes, don't forget Two Little Red Hens for Brooklyn Blackout Cake and their cheesecake. Mmm.
