Servers: Eat in Secrecy, Please

The eating in front of customers does not bother me nearly as much as the fact of staff eating off of dinners that have been to the table. This is highly unhygienic and not professional, and if the management has a clue, they will discourage this type of behavior. We are not scavengers. I make enough money to buy my own food. I do not feel the need to eat off of customers plates, and I think that this type of behavior lowers the standard of our profession.

The 10 College Towns with the Worst Food

I am surprised by the addition of Holland, MI on this list. I reviewed Urbanspoon's list of restaurants, and they looked pretty good. I think that the city council should review their city's food options...

Reform School for Tightwad Tippers

Get an etiquette book. It says in my book that 20% is standard and never to tip under 10%. It's really your call. I have only left nothing one time and that is a story all to itself. Remember, they are taxed on 10-15% anyway. That's how it worked out when people decided to tax gratuities. You want the taxes, you should follow the customs...

Whole Roasted Suckling Pig

I was thinking of filling the cavity with pink lady apples, rosemary, and lavender. Would this alter the cook time? Would the thigh method still be accurate?

Hello, I'm Your Annoying Server

As a server, giving the name works twofold. If there is a problem, the guest can tell anyone nearby who their server is. It sounds silly, that other servers would not know whose table it is, but when it gets busy, time is precious. Also, the server might have special knowledge that would time to communicate to another person. Second, if and when the table is blown away by the amazing service they have received, I would like my name to be embedded in their mind in association with outstanding service. Overall, it helps me to help you if you know who I am, as opposed to being a murky shadow in the background...

My question is about the compensation. If normal tipping is 20, then how is that extra? 25-30 would be the norm for extra crazy, in my opinion...
