Paulette's in Leslieville - any info?

$7.00 for a medium coleslaw? Really? Noooo thank you. I will stick to Stockyards - the best fried chicken in Toronto.

Happiness at Yonge and Lawrence -- Burger's Priest's second location

Sooo happy to see they are coming to Yonge and Lawrence. Can't stand the bad service and bland food at Burger Cellar. This will probably kill them.

Corbin Tomaszeski announced as new ROM Executive Chef, designing new menus for both C5 and the Food Studio Cafe

I know Corbin will do a great job. I vowed never to return to C5 after an overpriced, lackluster meal including a $40 cheese 'platter' consisting of 5 teeny tiny cubes of cheese.

I will prob check out ROM for lunch soon to check out Corbin's positive changes.

Uncle Betty's Diner

Just ate the Big People Mac N Cheese, w white cheddar, breadcrumbs, truffle oil and pancetta. It was super yummy!

The pancetta was diced and crispy, the saltiness was just what the creamy, cheesy dish needed. I couldn't really taste the truffle oil, but maybe it's because it's so subtle.

They have that cool Hamptons 'Martha Stewart' donut machine. I had the powdered sugar donut as part of an ice cream sandwich with GREGS ICE CREAM in Roasted Marshmallow, of course. It was delicious. I can't really taste the donut, and to be fair, to judge a donut, you have to try it really fresh, and this was 9 at night.

They really talk up their Ultimate Grilled Cheese. It sounds like it has ALOT going on. I think you would have to be starving to try it!

Liked the service, which is ALWAYS a plus!!!

Rosedale MBCO (RIP) = new Terroni?

I went to the new Terroni (Rosedale) I don't know how they're going to keep customers happy with such a limited menu. I could find almost nothing interesting (and worth the price) to eat in the menu. I asked for a simple substitution and was told 'no' they would'nt change one type of pasta to the linguine I requested.
They were not busy at all, and I left.
They're not trying very hard at the customer service.
I went to Quanto Basta instead. Much better.

Bon Apetite 6th floor of The Bay downtown

'Arcadia' was an '80s band made up of Duran Duran members Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor. 'Arcadian Court' is the legendary restaurant and event hall at the top of the Bay store at Queen Street.

Aunties used to take their nieces shopping for fancy dresses way, way back in the day and then they would treat themselves to lunch at the Arcadian Court. It's very nice actually, and is a lovely event space.

The cafeteria adjacent to it has good eats at good prices.

Food at the Real Sports Bar and Grill- Maple Leaf Square

I hear the Quesadilla sliders are good...if not different. Let us know what you think.

Loblaws I hardly know you....

One of the many things I hate about Loblaws is Galen Junior's condescending commercials. Dude, lay off of Mr. Christie. Chips Ahoy rock, I refuse to buy Loblaws The Decadent cookies because of the way they put down Mr. Christie's Chips Ahoy, and Shoppers Drug Mart puts Oreos, Fudgee-O's & Chips Ahoy on sale pretty regularly, for really cheap. I always buy a few on sale and give Mr. Weston's cookies the cold shoulder.

Brookfield Movenpick Bad Experience

I thought that once the 'new management' was in place the Brookfield Movenpick would be worth a visit. Complete lack of service. At least the OLD management would establish service by attempting to take your tray from your table.

The paella was awful, the shrimps not fresh, and the rest was tasteless.

The girls who were working the pastry counter were chatting away like long-lost girlfriends, so I gave up on dessert and went to Second Cup for a Rockie Blondie Bar instead.

I want a refund on my 'mandatory' 12% service fee. Crap service.

The Burger Cellar - Yonge & Lawrence

I LOVE Johnny's....their fries & gravy, and their 'cheap' frozen retro burger- hey, it is what it is. And in the strip mall next door: Esquire- best Greek Salad and Souvlaki I have ever had.

Pusateri's opened at Bayview Village

I went by Monday night, but they were still setting up. The seating area outside is gorgeous with over-sized lamps and a huge video screen. Their pasty section looked amazing from what little I could see.

This is a brilliant location for them. This could also be the final nail in the coffin for 'McEwan' at the doomed 'Shops at Don Mills'

Late night recs in Toronto tonight

Agree with 7 West, very close to Sutton Place too. Another option is a short taxi to Chinatown - House of Gourmet on Dundas, east of Spadina is good.

The Burger Cellar - Yonge & Lawrence

True, not really a joint, but there has just been a wave of trendy burger places lately. BTW, Avenue @ The Four Seasons has a yum burger.

Gilead Cafe serving dinner in new year

Went to Gilead for dinner a couple of weeks ago. I had the Muskoka chicken, steamed veggies and potato gratin. All was good, the gratin was perfect, not too salty. My date was more adventurous and had the Elk. She said it was fab.

Trio Wood Fired Pizza, Yonge and Lawrence

Had the veal trio at 'Trio' tonight. Lovely cognac cream sauce. My dining companion had the mussels, but requested a white wine sauce. Simply divine!

The Burger Cellar - Yonge & Lawrence

Not impressed. Their miserable brunette hostess has completely turned me off The Burger Cellar. We called that afternoon to reserve a table for 5, and were told no reso needed, just 'walk in'. So, we went at 6:00pm and the hostess said they were full and did we NOT have a reservation? I explained that we had called earlier and were told to just walk in.

What I found remarkable was the hostess made no apology and no attempt to offer any kind of help. VERY bad first impression, especially for a new burger joint, in an already competitive market.

Delica - Yonge and St Clair

Delica is beautifully run, with a great selection of treats. I love their soups and sandwiches. Their 'Spicy Bird' sandwich is like a chicken wing dinner all wrapped up in a bun, including the carrots & blue cheese dip. Delicious!
