The ridiculous price of raw chicken wings!

I'm going to age myself. I would buy wings and backs for soup for 10 cents a pound ! This was before a chicken wing dish was a gleam in someones' eye. BTW didn't typewriters Have a "cents" symbol?

In the Detroit area Alinosi made their own hand packed spumoni. Absolutly the best. You could get the bisque tortoni on it's own too. Don't know if they still have a store there.

The Single Most Overrated Dish

Yep, Whole milk is the only way to go. I like the Greek for sauces. Also going back 40 or so year, the place for good yogurt was the ethnic stores,That yogurt always was tart. Don't buy whimpy low or no fat stuff. Is there a thread on YOgurt? I could go on....

The Easiest Frozen Yogurt with a Blackberry Swirl

Love the dairy mixture. I had some strawberry puree- recipe from the cake bible- blended that in to taste.nice to have a lower calorie ice cream in the freezer.

Go to meetup.com,then to asheville and look for Asheville foodies. This group just started last week. Check out the other food groups too. I'm glad this group was started as many of the groups are wine oriented- I do drink- but I'd rather cook with the wine!

corn syrup

I have been to only 1 store so far. The corn syrup- 2 brands-had added vanilla. I'm sure it was not even real vanilla. I don't want to use this in my candies that I'll be making using all first rate ingredients. Has anyone encountered this ?

Mushroom Bolognese

Would be nice to know the amount of pasta this is good for. Making this for a vegan potluck and need a certain quantity of food. I think I'll make a double-looks good- I'll have it home with a good sprinkling of cheese At home if there's leftovers!

It ends up being about 4 times a week. I rotate all stores,some just have the best items, some have the best prices . I'm retired so I like to get a good deal when i can.

I just read thread here about sprouts treated with clorine. Does any one know how prevalent this is and what veggies could be treated. At restaurants several times I have picked up a "clorine" taste. Has anybody had a similar experience?

Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

Just made the custard, nobody will ever say plain vanilla again! Will having salted caramel sauce with this be too over the top? I'll find out tomarrow.
